2 Aussie post-punk acts join forces to release a synth heavy, super fun, danceable split single.

With ‘Nocturne Baby’, Cong's back on the (mutant) dance-floor. This time, instead of pounding the floor and walls relentlessly with punk fervor and reckless abandon though, he is instead luxuriating and sleazing all over it. On ‘Nocturne Baby’, the EBM squelks, bleeps and sharp synth arpeggios are there, but this time Cong's voice croons and washes over it playing necromancer, resurging all that is sensual, human and the opposite to daytime ratrace artifice.

Flip the record to hear dance-post-punk duo Hearts & Rockets’ new synth-heavy single ‘The Promise’. Sounding like the indie sleeze offspring of The Cramps and The B-52, Kalindy’s bratty vocals demand servitude, while Kurt’s stabbing bass punctures the synth’s driving melodies, all set to a disco beat.

Sydney-based singer-songwriter Moody Beach (aka Melissah Mirage) shares her new single, “Why Not” out via Viscera Arts.

A follow-up to her lauded sophomore EP ‘Mirage’, Mirage continues to flourish in distilling her sound and lyrics as fluid expressions of her life experience, and exploration of agency and autonomy as a woman. Produced by Kim Moyes of The Presets, “Why Not” opens to a plucked bass line as Mirage’s hazy vocals cut to the fold, in a smoke-laced hit of instantly addictive melody. Between shoegaze-riddled fuzz and crisp snares, “Why Not” is the perfect amalgamation of analog and electro, as every note sits with clarity in Marie’s serenading world of indie-pop catharsis.

Moody Beach says about “Why Not”: “‘Why Not’ is about unfulfilled desire towards a person who is off-limits; how this desire muddles the brain and your capacity to think and act logically. To me, desire is one of the most primal human instincts. I revelled in the feeling and had a lot of fun writing the song. It was the perfect outlet and a cathartic release.”

Kim Moyes says about “Why Not”: “Even in the roughest & purest form of the demo, “Why Not” stood out as something instantly exciting and relatable. The overall energy struck me as a perfect, but unusual kind of left-field hot-and-bothered. Most importantly, I felt that Mel's lyrics nailed the sense of excitement, danger and angst of desire. 'Love To Leave You,' is out now through Psychic Hysteria. Mixed and mastered by Naomune Anzai (Teskey Brothers + Cash Savage and the Last Drinks)the concept album captures ice-cool realms of feminine love, loss, ghosts, and algorithms in answer to the feminist fires of Plaster of Paris' sisterband 2021 release, Lost Familiar, of which all three are members.

Single, Night Moves was released with video Directed by luminary Geoffrey O'Connor in a dreamy, pink limo, champagne afterparty haze the single charted at #1 on Soundcloud's Re-Ex Top 40 Underground Electronic Charts in 2022. US music mag, Austin Town Hall were “drawn to the majesty” of the vocals and music and was described by vocalist Zec Zechner as;

“a trip into 2062, a nuclear storm is endlessly roars outside the window, of a single thirty-something A.I. House Bot, donning kitchen apron and platinum blonde hair is burning the dinner and swirling on the checkered kitchen linoleum floor, on which the the oven drips smoky haze. Alexxa simulates day-dreams, for the long-lost dancefloor with her nostalgic sad indie chill, genre filter, conjuring her implanted memories”.

Escalator single, was launched with video clip and an online Q&A as part of the 2020 Leaps and Bounds Music Festival makes a statement about an artist escaping corporate boredom to fulfil their creative self. Featuring performance artist and painter Billi Lime and directed filmmaker Stephanie Gould (US). The track engaged audiences on YouTube with its meditation on the unfolding of a performer’s work and art-life, joyful collaboration of muse and artist. 

Self-titled debut track Double Vanity immediately grabbed the attention of the local and international airwaves. Its beautiful found footage video clip delved into an ‘80s plaza experience, complete with dream bathroom renovations and lycra-clad dancers, swirling jangle guitar and vocals dissolve in a hypnotic dance. 

During Melbourne's extended lockdown, Double Vanity released the DV EP of remixes of their previous two singles. The Double Vanity Remixes EP features amazing producers and artists Jimmy Cass, shemale crime coven (Angel from Habits), Psychic Hysteria label-mate Astral Skulls and Mino Peric (No Sister) and beloved Estonian electronic music star, Starlight Maker.
