Celtic anthem, written at the end of my year of busking, tired of singing other peoples songs I wrote this song and it went on to become a signature end of show song.

Had the chorus floating around for a year or 3 and nailed the verses on a 2 day non stop roadtrip from Austin Texas to Chicago in 2005

Song of leaving

Written over about 5 years! starting out as a banging street tune and transforming into the softer version here when all the words finally came together. Dedicated to Egon a wise man I had the fortune to spend some time with in 1993, some of it in a Potugal prison but mostly on the coast, living the good life, free man!

Big wheels

Written for the Anti War Cabaret shows London in 2003. Played for a lot of shows and recorded here again at Ballagroove studios Isle of Man with the inimitable Gypo Buggane on horns.

Carnival of war

As close as I will ever get to a love song I reckon, written after spending some time on Sleah Head  near Dingle in Eire 2005 / 06.

Sleah head

Written on Mandolin on the way back to the island, was tired of the big city, all the banks and business types everywhere, returned to the island only to find they had moved in  there also, big office blocks along the quayside etc, sat on the harbour and found the last verse, played the tune through and then noticed an old fisherman sat down the way nodding in approval.
