The Middle Eight of Mach Rider's Main Tune for original 8-bit NES.

No intent to infringe, free track for all.

Middle 8 is kind of a misnomer it's longer than 8 measures but it's accurate enough as "the part you don't normally hear until you're advanced into something"  As this tune only played if you were at least 8 courses into the game's progression.  When the ruins are replaced by futuristic buildings on the horizon.

Dedicated to all of those who are headed either direction on I-5 into Seattle at around exit 190's ish not really obeying 80 MPH in the left lane.  We know who you are.  A significant fraction of you are humming exactly this portion.

Performed manually without any arpeggiation, from memory.  It's a little glitchy but it's the fondness for it that counts.

My Harmonic Journey, old guitar piece I wrote in high school. #ambient

The main theme is another one from my distant teenage years, written on a small keyboard as a flute tune. 
My friend like it, so we fooled around with it and even recorded a song called ''Field of Dew'', as a satine of folkish/radio friendly love songs popular in Dalmatia, that alone probably influenced me to use the theme for a romance-like composition.
Sentiment and content wise, it is very personal, filled with melodies reminiscing all of turmoil one can experience in love, from happy moments like the first glance in the shared with one another in a crowd during a Metallica cover band concert, strolling through the sun bathed forest of Gorski Kotar, and many more, both happy and unhappy. 
This piece is dedicated to Vanja Kalemba, the mother of my son and also the author of many paintings I use as a art cover of my compositions.

A composition depicting perhaps the midst of snowy winter, where the encroaching cold is held at bay with a memory of a loved one. 
Harmonically I mostly stayed in D minor/major, with a brief excursion in G minor. I've attempeted to write a middle passage in F major, but the two themes I've managed to come up with simply didn't fit with the rest of the music, but hey, at least I have two new themes for next pieces.

Scraping MIDI from mp3 carries its own inaccuracies and perils but one way to smooth it over is to use pad-like sounds so that repeated staccato 32nd's sound continuous.  This seemed to work well.

I mean the particular tones used to mask the mandolin-like effect were chosen maybe sub optimally to sound more like the Beatles chopping up calliope sounds, they would be better later changed to string-instrument pads more in line with violins and stuff.

PROGRAM NOTE
For many years, my wife Victoria and her FAB5 quintet (string quartet and percussion), have entertained thousands of people at numerous performance spaces and travel hubs in New York City, including Moynihan Train Hall, Oculus World Trade Center, Javits Center, and Chelsea Market. Having seen many of their shows, especially those at travel hubs, there's a certain tension and release you experience watching people wait anxiously for their trains, and then the release they feel when they are finally on their way. I've had these experiences myself, so I wanted to create two pieces that emulate these feelings.

Wound Up/Unwind consists of two contrasting pieces for string quartet and percussion. The first, Wound Up, for string quartet and cajón, imitates the feeling of being worried, anxious, and frustrated, especially while waiting to board a train. The second, Unwind, for string quartet and handpan, is calm and soothing, perhaps emulating the satisfying feeling of relaxing in a quiet seat as the train leaves the station. Both pieces can be performed independently and in any order.

Wound Up/Unwind is written for and commissioned by the FAB5 quintet with support from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs.

(note on 11-11-2025: i finally noticed the comparison with 'At The Zoo' by Simon & Garfunkel "zebras are reactionary &c" against my modes-of-travel couple of seconds in there...lolz because the list items are politics

I found this nugget to be true
That you can just meet a cutie on a tram
And form a sex cult of two

She made an involuntary glance at my pecs
And said look you silly chud
If a man is scared of period sex
He shouldn't have sex peery ud

What a pity it isn't a sin to drink water
For how good it would taste
And when i saw the rich guy's daughter at the table
I had decided
That she wasn't going to waste

Not to get too raw
About contextualizing Fick's law
But women are position
And men are momentum
So to cap off his patron's tantrum
Her father's chef was giving a rendition
Of his confused proclivity
To identify with kinematic diffusivity

This budding culinary poltroon
Spun his wooden spoon like a virtuoso torsional
He said your nose and your weenie length are proportional
This tends to trump your looks
The girls all to go for bestial
Therefore Pinocchio writes the history books

He had his mind in the gutter
But his take was immaterial
For he wasn't just cooking
He was pan frying with butter
Something downright magisterial

I'm far too busy keeping my hair and nails in sheen
But the male brain cannot comprehend
Pasta with no protein
