Rewind in time to the mid 2000’s when Nickodemus was making many collaborations in San Juan Puerto Rico with the Candela All-stars, Quantic, & many Salsa, Rumba legends. Vocalist & guirro player Sammy Ayala (from the groups Ismail Rivera & Cortijo) was one of those legends & they had a quick easy style of working together. Baila a tú Manera feat Sammy Ayala came out with a Whiskey Barons remix in 2012. Almost 10 years later & we have another remix aimed straight for the dancefloor by the one & only Captain Planet. Let the dancers loose & raise a toast to the late great beautiful Sammy Ayala one more time.

Finnadrift sets the scene perfectly with ‘Sipping Away’. Snappy breaks, rich pianos and a funky bass blend into a groove that summons 1950's Brazilian vibes to get you swinging. Grab yourself an ice cold beverage, fix your shades and enjoy!

Auris turns up for sunset but the temperature doesn’t let up for ‘Too Hot To Handle’. A jazz piano creates a moment of cool before chunky breaks and a fat, contorting, red hot bass turn up the heat levels. Handle with caution! 

Soulfil cools things down nicely with a little help from Mali Lloyd on ‘Tell You’. Classic jungle breaks, twinkling piano and jazz guitars create a cool and spacious backdrop for Mali to deliver her jazzy pondering on matters of the heart. Take a breather!

Last but not least Note delivers an awesome remix of Winlow's ‘Swing & Miss’. Note shows his story telling ability with his unique take. Whatever happened through the day doesn’t matter, the night is ours. It’s sometimes good to keepadmirers at a distance. For her “come-back” album, Brisa Roché followsthis rule to the letter.Afterfour albums in France, she returned to her native California—not the one with six-lane highwaysand palm trees, but the one up north, where mountain lions roam,and sequoias tower. There, hiddenin  her  home-studio,  she  channeled  song  after  song,  inspired  by  tracks  arrivingfrom producersall over the world. Some sent sound hoping to re-provoke songwriting in the vein of jazz-singer-Brisa freshly arrived in France the moment the Twin Towers fell, who haunted the stages of Parisian caves with ahigh shadowy voice, forcing journalists to compare her to Billie  Holiday.  Others  sent  what  revealed  a  preferencefor  theavant-gardismof  “Mystery Man” off ofher first record on Blue Note, that transported fans withpop as daring as it was sweet. Still other composers sent tracks they hoped would prolong the sound they loved in her hits “Whistle”and “Call Me”, from her psych-folk period.But  of  course,  Brisa  did  not  revisit  the  past.  She  invented  a  future,  a  space-time  exercise, creating songs  across  thousands  of  miles,  across  musical  genres,  where  a  voice  springs  as easily  from  a  computer,  an  applauded  stage,  ora  virgin  forest.  The  album  INVISIBLE  1  istitled  such  because  anythingis  possible  when limitations  imposed  by  astudio setting are discarded,  when  judgments  and  timidity  are  veiled  by  distance,  when  collaborations multiply  across  the  waves,  when  intimacy  with  strangers  makes  art. Brisawrites  quickly, urgent  with  the noveltyof  imported  sounds  and  privacy,  40  melodic  arrangements,  40 stories told, narrowed down now to a 14-song album with two sides, upon which two sides of her personality dance.The “introvert side” nestles on Thibaut Barbillon’s intimate guitars and soaring chords, the singer a dreamer and an insomniac, giving herself up in confession. As if escaped from a girl group, she invites us to walk with her, or to lock ourselves in her room withher.The “extrovert side”, sunnier with a more electronic feel and Blackjoy at the control panel, features  ideas  from  co-producer  Marc  Collin  (Nouvelle  Vague,  Yasmine  Hamdan,  Elodie Frégé...), upon which Brisa’s voice is amplified, playful as a Kate Bush, serious as a Lana Del Rey.This  production,  free  from  all  constraints,  between  continents,  out  of  French  studios, American  studios,  home-studios, underground  studios,from  Paris  to  the  American  West, gives us a new Brisa Roché. At  this  hour  of  the  death  of  the  great  British  chameleon  David  Bowie,  when  formatted records reign supreme, it’s a pleasure to see and hear an artist who stuns us with her daring art of metamorphosis.

microCastle returns for its third release of 2019, welcoming Kevin Jamey aka GROJ back to the label for a new single. Hailing from Montreal, the Canadian artist made his label debut in November of last year with ‘Bunk Up’. Well received, the three track artist EP showcased the widescreen appeal of Kevin’s studio repertoire. It’s blend of youthful energy and melodic minimalism found favour with a wide array of the world’s top tastemakers including Ame, Andhim, Dixon, HOSH, Guy J and Sasha. Now following his chart topping fryhide single ‘SITH’, GROJ returns to microCastle for the much anticipated ‘Transmission’. 
 
'Transmission' might be instantly recognizable to some as a nod to Joy Division's celebrated 1979 single. A highlight of GROJ’s live shows for the last two years, this enigmatic take on the track has been much sought after. The Montreal resident injects spirited themes into the piece through pulsating grooves and electric synths, while the main vocal hook sits above with its boisterous, new wave charm. Full of emotion and colour, 'Transmission' sees GROJ at the top of his game. The original version and more so the band was inspirational in GROJ's career early on, as he describes.
 
"Joy Division has always been a favourite of mine, they were one of those bands that inspired me and gave me the confidence to get up on stage and sing when I was a teenager. Listening back to their music one day I just started hearing this club version in my head and was surprised nobody had done it yet. Then I realized that the only obstacle was really to get that vocal loop right, so I tried it myself at and found that I could get into the Ian Curtis vibe fairly naturally with my own voice. I was torn between “Love Will Tear Us A Part” and “Transmission” but ultimately went for the latter. I just found his vocals more penetrating on that one and less sad. Joy Division had a sad ending and I wanted to bring a new light to the music somehow, hopefully it will do the song justice."
