The little melody at the end of his track got stuck in my head, so I decided to attack the ear worm head on today instead of running errands. The trombone part is far from perfect. Maybe one day I'll fix that.

Just some looped noodling. First time recording anything in the new apartment, so I figured I should put it up. Remind me to not use the oldies fx setting for a melody next time.

Dirty? I think messy might be more appropriate. Spilled water and tomato ooze isn't exactly dirty, I guess. The minimalism is probably most felt through repetition and phasing of these repeated ideas.

I've been bouncing around this idea for a while and this is the first exploration of it. The idea was to take repetitive actions and then process them in cubase using its grooves (and quantize). In this case, I did quantize the tracks but chose particularly messy moments that wouldn't necessarily fit neatly within the grid. I also applied some generous pitch shifting and effects.


Sounds used include: Baoding Balls, tomato chopping, pancake mixing, glass harps (red and snifter). Recorded using Rode NT-5 stereo pair into cubase and then processed/arranged using ableton live.

Repetitive motions (10/13/12) “disquiet0041-dirtyminimalism”

I don't really have much to add to the sounds themselves. As I listened to the provided track I kept looking for the 'sonic fingerprint' that pointed out the civic action. My ear though, kept getting drawn to the loop that forms the basis of this track. Other than the lipps, there's some light additions and processing done inside ableton live.

Draft version of some music I'm working on inside Ableton Live. The drum kit is processed sound effects from Metroid.

heavily processed recording of an unknown number leaving me a pocket dial + 2 trombone tracks (both run through the VE-20 and then mixed/processed further).

Just some Sunday improv to get my brain juices flowing for some upcoming music creation.
