It is challenging to determine the original of this particular song or if it is indeed originated as an English or Irish folk song. I am continuing to research it further and I will update once I am able to confirm it's origin. Either way, I found this to be a lovely tune of which I had taken liberty in revising some of the lyrics to better "fit" the story I wanted to express.
