HEAL WITHIN: THE INFRASTRUCTURE

I ask not to show me.
I ask not for help.
I ask not to tell me.
I can take care of myself.

I wrote a song called Heal Me a few years back. The song portrays a certain, debilitating event that occurred in my life that was the epitome of my emotional demise. The song was about the immediate aftermath of the event and the incredible hardship of overcoming it. I titled it Heal Me, as a sort of desperate cry for a sort of… supernatural intervention. That’s how low I felt.

My secret dream… I suppose it’s not a secret anymore, but my secret dream was to sing. One of my greatest insecurities is my singing voice, which is nonexistant (let’s be honest). I tend to try to capture my vocal expression into electronic leads in my music. Heal Me voices a cry-for-help tone deeply rooted in hopelessness. Heal Within, however, is a different story.

The piano represents life. The lead represents me. The piano in the beginning sets the background like a narrative--a monologue. At 0:38, the lead talks of the residual feelings of the past, with melodies asking 'why?' 0:57, the piano is repetitive, a response telling me, 'that's how it is--you know what you did.' 1:14, the lead interrupts life (which you will hear it happens every now and then) with an angry backlash of denial. 1:17 marks the piano's attempt at reasoning with the lead, with mocking responses from the lead. 1:36 marks a more peaceful reprise--the piano giving the lead another chance at reason, back and forth, and the lead is more compliant. By 1:55, the lead falls rock bottom, looking to the piano for guidance and is fully compliant. 2:04, the lead guides and the piano supports, together readying themselves for another uphill battle to rid of the hopelessness once and for all... and the battle ensues 2:14.

Heal Within is a more meditative, inward battle--moving on. Heal Me was the lament. By 3:29, the lead indeed has moved on.

But nothing like that ever truly vanishes.

Been a long time coming...dropped a preview for this over a year ago smh, before it caught dust. Melody wise, I wont describe the creative process for this one...but DBZ fans will definitely know what ground I covered lol. Direction wise though, the warmth aspect is inspired by the affect Bulma had on Vegeta's heart/character development (melted the ice). Gotta fix some sound levels but its decent enough to enjoy...I hope you all dig it!
