The walls of the little room in which we are sitting are crammed with photographs. Every branch of the family is represented, it is like a cross section of the Indian empire. For the most part the members of this genealogical tree look like withered leaves: the women are frail and they have a startled, frightened look in their eyes: the men have a keen, intelligent look, like educated chimpanzees. They are all there, about ninety of them, with their white bullocks, their dung cakes, their skinny legs, their old-fashioned spectacles; in the background, now and then, one catches a glimpse of the parched soil, of a crumbling pediment, of an idol with crooked arms, a sort of human centipede. There is something so fantastic, so incongruous about this gallery that one is reminded inevitably of the great spawn of temples which stretch from the Himalayas to the tip of Ceylon, a vast jumble of architecture, staggering in beauty and at the same time monstrous, hideously monstrous because the fecundity which seethes and ferments in the myriad ramifications of design seems to have exhausted the very soil of India itself. Davka is a man of wisdom and elegance. This is his first offering for Shango Records. This track can give you the keys to the gates of the holy mountain. Veytik, Obbie and Solar Kings are your hopes behind those gates.

The best story in the book of Thousand Nights and One Night is the one in the City of Brass. A crew of explorers, after following a long path marked by sinister statues and a dark castle full of tombs, come to a walled city. On the outer walls they encounter charming young women, who on closer inspection reveal themselves to be cunningly constructed automatons meant to fool invaders into jumping off the walls to their deaths. A few of the men are killed before the illusion is discovered. The rest venture inside, where they find buildings of unbelievable opulence, with every surface seemingly covered in gold and jewels. But the city is ominously silent. The only inhabitants are human corpses, some still sitting in their homes and shops, giving the impression of life frozen in time. The party eventually reaches the city’s queen. Her sparkling eyes cause them to briefly mistake her for a living person, but they soon learn that she too is dead and that the light from her eyes comes from quicksilver placed there by an embalmer. A nearby inscription tells the whole story: the city was struck by a famine, and the people, once they had exhausted every effort to save themselves, went back to their places and awaited their fates. In the end, it’s a cautionary tale about the transience of wealth. Anber is a man of wisdom and true feelings. This is his fourth offering for Shango Records. These two tracks can give light to every dark story. K-os Theory, Max Tenrom and Chalanga live in the land of fairytales.

Marco Tegui serves up two collaborative singles with Solar Kings that have been taken from his upcoming Kindisch Stories album.

This underground talent hails from Peru and is known for his mesmerising live shows and magical melodic house sounds on labels such as this one, Stil Vor Talent and Get Physical. He has played all over the world, heads up his own DowntempoLove label and was previously A&R for Berlin's Bar 25, all while drawing on the cultural references of his own heritage. Here he works with Sounds Of Khemit and DowntempoLove artists Solar Kings on two fresh new tracks.

The first is 'Wild West', a fantastically cultured sound that takes you to a wide open US savannah where cowboys once roamed. Strings, finger clicks and word claps all detail the loose-limbed groove and make for truly cinematic listening. Next is the brilliant 'Panjabi', a richly percussive house sound with steel drums and lumpy rhythms, vocal cries and whistles all conveying the sense of being on a busy street in India. The hypnotic melodies are sure to transfix the crowd as the drums make them move in all new ways.

The full album arrives late in August with a further eight superb new originals and remixes.

English: cardso is the sound work of Lucas Cardoso, your project features collages of sounds produced by us on Earth and musical loops developed by him. 

In the beats and the melodies there is a flirtation between Techno and IDM, which also involve more abstract elements, these elements arise during the research sounds in his creative process and constitute a bridge between the loops and collages. 

This first EP, which is composed of 5 songs (one produced with helena9999) cardso uses collage as a visual and sound creation tool from a reflection on the creative overload and information which we live.
