Yeat's fourth studio album, 2093, follows the release of his third studio album, AftërLyfe, in February 2023.

Initially, fans anticipated a deluxe version of AftërLyfe after Yeat teased it following the album's success. However, the deluxe version was scrapped for unknown reasons, leading Yeat to announce in a now-deleted tweet that he would create a completely separate album.

In an interview with 032c magazine, Yeat described how 2093 differs from his previous work, stating, "Between the last record and this upcoming one, it feels like a ten-album difference in time. People have no idea what it’s going to sound like. It’s like 2093, dystopian society."

Promotional projections for 2093 were spotted in large cities and landmarks around the world in early January. Yeat later hinted at a February release date on Instagram, posing with one of the projections. On January 31st, he confirmed the February release date and hinted at possible features from Drake and Childish Gambino.

On February 14, 2024, Yeat announced the album's release date on Instagram for February 16, unveiling the official artwork. He also encouraged fans to generate 250,000 comments on the post, promising to reveal the official tracklist once the goal was met.

After fans achieved the target, Yeat shared the tracklist via his Instagram story around 5 AM EST. The tracklist included 22 songs with hidden features and was titled "Phase 1."

The following day, Yeat released "Phase 2" of the album, featuring two new tracks: "As We Speak" with Drake and "Never Quit."
