Welcome to Do Your Things Radiothon 2022 Show number 2. Radiothon is our main subscriber drive for the year & runs until Sunday the 23rd October. 3MDR is listener-funded, absolutely independent radio station, which means we rely on your subscriptions to operate. For decades now, you’ve done us proud. Your support has allowed us to stay on air and provide a platform for voices, music and ideas that may otherwise never be heard. This year’s Radiothon theme is “You Are 3MDR” and we will be inviting our listeners and supporters to share with us how “You Are 3MDR”, through stories, photos, videos... anything that reminds us of the good times we’ve had and how we are all connected.

q. pls introduce yourself
a. Hello hello, I’m Mitch, I make music under the name Bluetung.

q. is there a story behind the mix?
a. It was recorded at the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney coinciding with their ‘1001 Remarkable Objects’ exhibition, which was quite an unusual hodgepodge of archival pieces from their collection stripped of context and intention, curated for purely aesthetic appreciation… much like a godforsaken dj?
Considering the venue, I wanted to dig deep into Antipodean sound art and play some artists who belong in the hallowed halls of our history — which the first half showcases — then by the end I was just having some silly fun with it. Shoutouts to Del for the invite and Ry for recording on the night.



q. what’s the best way enjoy your mix? 
a. On the speakers while you’re cooking, background as you read (don’t mind the spooky start), headphones on the train, it’s a weird journey.

q. describe a favorite object in your living room...
a. Record collection and cat :’)

q. are you working on any projects right now (music or not music)?
a. I haven’t really made any music for a year and planned to continue the break while I finish my electrical engineering degree… but after playing some really inspiring shows and copping a 12 string guitar the itch to make new music has well and truly returned. I’m just taking things slowly though, I’ve had a crazy year and I want to spend more time with friends and going hiking.

The auditory landscape at Testing Grounds, on Wurundjeri Country, encompasses a diverse array of sounds, crafting a vibrant and at times overwhelming sonic environment. These sounds, characterized by their loud, abrupt, and occasionally jarring nature, emanate from human activity and the infrastructure that underpins urban existence.
Harmony and Dissonance, utilises high frequency sounds which possess a soft, delicate, and melodious quality.
This juxtaposition serves to accentuate the contrast between two distinctly disparate auditory landscapes, shedding light on the tension between urban development and our connection to the natural environment. Furthermore, it explores the inherent beauty that can emerge when something gentle and refined is layered with a noisy and unruly backdrop.
Harmony and Dissonance, stimulates contemplation and emotion, and offers fresh perspectives on familiar elements of our surroundings.
