Let's meet our dj for episode 471, Dj Sofa;
Helsinki based producer DJ Sofa continues to be a force to be wreck-end with in the Jungle scene. Starting off producing HipHop, House and UKG since 2012, this self taught producer quickly found her love for Jungle and Hardcore beats. With some solid DNB releases on Midnight Sun Recordings, Sofa's jungle flavours on Midnight Sun and Straight up Breakbeat found the ears of some the scenes best jungle connoisseurs. Sofa has had support from the likes of Tim Reaper, Coco Bryce, Mantra, Flight and plays on BBC Radio 1.
She made her UK debut at top London Jungle night - Rupture, and has since been back for Tim Reaper's night Future Retro, also with a forthcoming release in the bag!
In Finland, Sofa is a resident for Straight Up Breakbeat and VOM and when she's not writing beats, you can find her hosting a monthly radio show on IDA Helsinki called 'Rough Around The Edges'
With forthcoming vinyl releases on staple labels such as Myor, and Future Retro, Sofa has made a huge impact on the Jungle scene already and continues to flourish as a producer.

DJ Sofa-Everyday Junglist Podcast-Episode 471

I was honoured to be asked by Mantra and Double O to warm up room  1 at Rupture's 16th birthday last month on 19th November, alongside a full line up of some of the best DJ's, MC's and producers in the scene!
It was daunting, to say the least, but I did it and, after a wave of pure anxiety I came off the turntables smiling and proud that I had done a pretty good job! :D
 
It's a little late, but, for those that missed it or couldn't make it, here is my 93/94 all vinyl vibe promo mix that I recorded at home a month before the gig..needless to say I was shitting my pants; of course, I changed a few tunes along the way running up to the gig!
Music is such a HUGE part of my life, I love it and can't live without it. I am so compassionate about music it that it sometimes consumes me, to the point of intense worry that I feel I should stop mixing..but I have turned a corner after Rupture and I have gained that passion again <3

Dozer’s first exposure to raving was a night called Legends of the Dark Black at the Zap club in Brighton in 97 and 98 whilst at uni. There, he saw DJs such as Grooverider and Andy C and soon became hooked to the sounds of producers like Bad Company and Ed Rush & Optical.

He started DJing in early 2002, and played at his first rave, Pure Jungle at SE1, in late 2003, and also started playing on the lifefm.tv radio station that same year. He formed the Healing Crew with JRS & Mel De’Vil around the same time, and they linked up with Essence of Chi, then became residents in 2004.

During the 2000s, he played at legendary London venues such as The End, Plan B, Ministry of Sound, Rhythm Factory, Bar Rumba, Herbal and The Scala, as well as in many other Cities up and down the UK. He moved to the famous London pirate radio station, www.rudefm.com in 2006 with the Healing Crew, and did a 5 year stint until 2011.

Dozer developed a love of House and Techno around 2005, and his passion or this music took over around 2011. He started djing on Guildford community station www.kanefm.com in 2013 alongside friend and fellow DJ Subterra. He also played a number of House and Techno gigs over the next few years, the highlight of which was playing at Cubed in Reading in 2014 and 2015, alongside Justin Martin and Paul Woolford.

Dozer is a music lover first and likes nothing more than blending different styles and influences into a single set. This works well with Drum & Bass, so if given the chance, he will blend Soulful, Dark, Dancefloor, Deep, Choppy and Rolling into one set. He has a deep knowledge of and passion for Jungle Drum & Bass, so can hone in on a sound or era when the crowd want it.

Due to the early influence of Drum & Bass, when it comes to building a House & Techno set, his main influence is naturally Drum & Bass. Whether it's Drum n Bass, or House and Techno, Dozer brings a multitude of different influences into a single set, often with an underlying theme running from start to finish.

Dozer continues to nurture his love of Jungle and Drum and Bass by recently returning to the fray with a monthly show on RudeFM.com as well as sets at Moondance and the freshly relaunched Essence of Chi.
