Berlin's Miro Pajic aka MSDMNR is a veteran artist with appearances on labels such as Ricardo Garduno's Illegal Alien, Kaiser's K S R, and Portugal's HAYES collective ran by Temudo, Nørbak and VIL. "Messages" is an energetic modular floor worker with a jackin' stomp and powerful, rising tension.

For Frenzy’s third release, and the first solo release, the Uruguay-based William Arist is introducing us to his world of ‘tribal techno’. Hailing from the city of Montevideo, this Southern- American-born artist already is a talent to watch overseas. Through their like-minded vision of electronic music, William bonded strongly with our Amsterdam-based Frenzy crew over the last couple of years. This warm connection evolved into Frenzy 03 - showcasing pure dance floor eclecticism that only William can deliver, including two remixes by no other than VIL and rising star Kenji Hina aka Alarico.

The A side instantly kicks off at full good vibe-throttle with two productions that reminisce about those iconic Love Parade moments during the very first days of rave culture. Balancing on the edge of house and techno, ‘Chaka Chaka’ loops the listener into a straight sense of movement. With rhythmic drums and uplifting vocals, ‘Days’ feels like stepping into an after hour dance-floor at the beach while the morning sun rises through the exotic vegetation.

On the B side, William leans towards a more hypnotic sound. With a great tempo and a dark yet subtle mood, ‘Tero’ sets the tone for those murky clubbing moments where the boundaries dissolve and bodies merge. Slowly climbing out of the deep, ‘Gultural’ stays on the same energy level while adding dubby hints and a taste of freshness.

To top it off, the release is provided with two remixes that leave no room for interpretation. Portuguese producer VIL turned ‘Chaka Chaka’ into a true peak-hour beast while Italian multi- talent Alarico shows his versatile skill set with a speedy house remix of ‘Gultural’ under his Kenji Hina alias.

Soma favourite SLV marks a return to the label with a brand new single, Reflected Light EP. With a special concept album in the works, the Berlin based producer drops three uniquely crafted tracks that show a maturation of his already well sculpted sound. 

Title track Reflected Light is an energetic, rave infused track set to SLV's signature rolling, powerful drum workouts. Dreamscapes take has SLV on an acid tip reminiscent of early Plastikman. A subtle yet eerily deep acid line drifts across well crafted percussive elements that are drenched in just enough reverb to deliver that atmospheric tension. Keeping things fresh, SLV rounds of the EP with a tougher broken beat affair. Twisted, modulating leads snarl throughout as rock hard drums set the pace.

The fourth release on Valentino Mora’s label, IDO, comes from a fresh, young French producer, Olorun. Olorun began making dark, atmospheric techno as Abrial, releasing 3 EPs under this guise, before directing his focus to explore the textured, minimal, and ambient musical aspects that have always fascinated him. As his approach became more contemplative, he began exploring different moods and a “sweetness and a kind of purity in music.” Through stepping back to examine the subtlety of texture, Olorun’s attention to natural landscapes increased. This encouraged him to name his new, more sensitive project ‘Olorun’; a personification of the natural elements in Santeria’s religion.

Considering Olorun’s affinity with the the natural landscape, it is understandable how the graphic work of Atif Akin on Moruroa’s Crack would provide the inspiration behind the productions that would become Moruroa EP. Conflicting emotions arise when considering the beauty, as well as the destruction, of Moruroa’s Crack, a site devastated by nuclear tests during the cold war. Olorun responded to these feelings through his interpretation of a “journey through the different islands of the archipelago.” Olorun invites the listener to reflect on the always conflicting relationship between humans and their environment.

Moruroa EP is an abstract research characterised by textured layers that form a hybrid construction between organic percussions and atmospheres, and synthesised sounds that remind the listener of humanity’s - often destructive - entanglement with nature. The first track of the A side, Yuki, is a mystical, experimental piece layered with tribal percussions that evoke the Pacific landscape while hints of uncertain mechanical sounds question humans use of nuclear testing in this peaceful environment. The deep and hypnotic atmosphere in Kodo is likely to induce an euphoric, meditative state on the dance-floor. On the B side, Moruroa is also one for the dance floor; a downtempo cut, with deep grooves and atmospheres that will transport the listener directly to the lush forests of the titles namesake. The final track, Tuamotu begins with indistinct voices, hinting perhaps at the secrecy behind the atomic tests at Moruroa. Hopeful drones coupled with soft, expectant percussions, elicit an air of mystery that leaves the listener desiring. Overall, Moruroa EP, has a captivating and intriguing energy that maintains the deep, meditative and spiritual identity IDO has carved for itself.

Dutch underground acid-techno act Random XS strikes again with two rugged and authentic dance floor rockers. After a long awaited re-release of their Djax-Up-Beats classic 'Give Your Body' last year on Delsin, they return with a pair of fresh and unheard acid jams on the closely related MOS Recordings. Both tracks recorded in the early '90s, but only recently finalized and improved for heavy club impact. It's an EP full with gurgling 303 grooves and raw energy in the traditional and energetic Random XS way.

Centrifuge

Monument Records closes its first chapter in a touch of light, with Artefakt’s take on ‘Static Flow’. The dutch duo gathered their machines to add their unique touch to the original track, offering nothing else but a stunning, timeless piece of electro music.
