In 1996 I bought my first DJ Mixer. To commemorate the 25 years of scratching, I present to you a mixtape of original beats and scratches. All music was produced on an MPC 1000 using samples sourced from vinyl records.

In messenger work, a manifest is a paper you use to record and track signatures for the jobs you're given. Most contain around 20 jobs, so if you've filled out the manifest it means you made some money.  This album was made to reflect a typical day in NYC for me doing this work.

Dr. Data - Tool Practice Scratch Trak 2006 (remix)

Created circa 2009, this track was originally based around the electric piano, hence the original name ELECTRIK.  Data had an itch to switch styles and incorporate his influences like Chad Hugo and Pharell. With a faster than normal tempo, starting from a no sample palette, and using his minimal piano skill, DATA utilizes techniques like the 2 note chord, harmonizing notes, creating accents to this beat.  His final thought about his creation, it sounds Latin and I like that Oasis song, She's Electric..."her family is full of eccentrics."
