Solo Piano Song Master

This is one of three 90 second compositions I wrote for a mock application for a film scoring workshop. We had to choose from a couple different movie genres and suspense was one of them. For each piece I decided to come up with a main character and overarching dramatic context, create musical themes for both, and then try and implement them together. For the suspense film the character I came up with is actually schizophrenia (personified) that is affecting a girl, and as she is experiencing something very normal like going to the store, the world is falling apart around her and she is feeling desperate and not able to connect with the world. The general dramatic context is hopelessness/despair.  

90 second Suspense Composition

This is one of three 90 second compositions I wrote for a mock application for a film scoring workshop. We had to choose from a couple different movie genres and Action/Adventure was one of them. For each piece I decided to come up with a main character and overarching dramatic context, create musical themes for both, and then try and implement them together. For the action/adventure genre, I pictured the classic protagonist searching for lost treasure and dealing with some unpredictable force to get to it, and realizing that he/she has more trouble than expected. The main character i imagined to have an outwardly selfish and careless seeming personality, but really turns out to have a heart of gold and cares for those close to him/her. The general dramatic overview I decided to be greed turned good. 

90 second Action/Adventure Compostition

This is one of three 90 second compositions I wrote for a mock application for a film scoring workshop. We had to choose from a couple different movie genres and Epic was one of them. For each piece I decided to come up with a main character and overarching dramatic context, create musical themes for both, and then try and implement them together. For the Epic genre, I pictured the classic hero and a fantastical battle of good and evil. The main character will seem cold and hard outwardly and seem to have little potential as a hero, but will slowly develop into a caring and capable individual as he finds himself battling for the sake of humanity. The general dramatic overview will be about change and development, and of course good versus evil. 

90 second Epic (movie) Composition

This is a song I mixed and mastered through Above the Bridge Records at Michigan Tech. The music was written by the band "Three on a Match", way up here in the U.P.
