Alpacas Collective - What Could I Do

Alpacas Collective is super proud to release the second single from our new album to the world titled Movéfèzè, or 'wrongdoers' or 'bad guys' in Creole. Creole? Yes, you read that correctly. Those who know us know that we are inspired by music and languages from all corners of the world and for this new track we make a stop in the Caribbean, the island of Martinique to be precise.

Movéfèzè is an intoxicating, hypnotic cocktail of funky jazz vibes, larded with a poetic and lyrical rap by Nèg Madnick, who was inspired by the track originally called'The Sorcerer'. Nèg Madnick - one of the hip-hop pioneers in Martinique who was the very first to start rapping political lyrics in Creole in the early 1990s. He wrote his blazing lyrics that gave a new sound and name to the tune.  
In the song 'Movéfèzè', Nèg Madnick denounces the wealthy plantation owners who poisoned his beautiful Caribbean island with toxic pesticides and the lack of justice; These descendants of the colonial era - who grew rich through forced labour of enslaved people and sugar production, and still largely control the island's economy - used a specific DDT-like pesticide called 'chloredecone' for the large plantations of export bananas.
While this pesticide was banned in the US since the late 60ies and the WHO called it carcinogenic in 1979, ‘the banana-cartel’ kept using it’s stocks well into the 90’ies, knowing very well that they were putting people and ecosystems at risk. The widespread use of chlordecone in these French Caribbean islands poisoned the soil and water and been linked to unusually high rates of prostate cancer. 
After a decade of campaigning and protesting by action groups like ‘Zéro chlordécone, zéro poison’, it was only in 2018 that French head of state Macron agreed that France was responsible for what the President himself called "an environmental scandal". But it is a human rights issue, which the French state does not want to reciognise, maybe because it would cost too much? 
If one listens well somehow the track ‘Movéfèzè transmits dormant emotions of anger and rebellion, a revolt that could emerge from the luscious bush at any moment:  serious shit, on a dangerous groove! Enjoy the Maroonjazzfunk !

Ford scored an unexpected hit on the pop charts in 1955 with his rendering of "Sixteen Tons", a sparsely arranged coal-miner's lament, that Merle Travis first recorded in 1946 reflecting his own family's experience in the mines of Muhlenberg County, Kentucky. The song's authorship has been claimed by both Travis and George S. Davis. Its fatalistic tone contrasted vividly with the sugary pop ballads and rock & roll just starting to dominate the charts at the time.

With Ford's snapping fingers and a unique clarinet-driven pop arrangement by Ford's music director, Jack Fascinato, "Sixteen Tons" spent ten weeks at number one on the country charts and eight weeks at number one on the pop charts, and made Ford a crossover star. It became Ford's signature song.

Stimmhorn was a Swiss band, playing experimental ethno-music and Imaginary Folklore.
This band was formed in 1996 by Balthasar Streiff and Christian Zehnder. The band's name refers to their music, which consists mainly of their two voices performing traditional Swiss yodelling and horn instruments. The band's instrumentation and technique is multifaceted. Zehnder sings normally, sings overtone, and yodels. He also plays the wippkordeon, a bandoneon (concertina), a bandurria (a small guitar-like instrument similar a mandolin), an organ pipe and a hang (percussion instrument), among others. Streiff sings and plays horn like instruments, including the alphorn, double alphorn, alpofon (a system developed by his own instrument), büchel, cornet, baroque trumpet, cornetto and tuba.
In November 2009, Zehnder and Streiff played for the last time as "Stimmhorn".

Giufá is a sicilian band formed in 2008.The band is joined by musician with different musical experiences who found a meeting point in balkan sound.
Giufá began to compose unreleased songs mixing music from balkans,Maghreb,Sicily and Spain with a Gypsy punk attitude creating a new style called Gypsy tarantella (mixing instruments and proverbs from
sicilian tradition with balkan music).
Aggressive sax riffs, upbeat guitars, 4/4 persistent beats and balkans melodies are the ingredients for an euphoric and energetic show, which entertains and unites people of all ages.Every concert is an
explosion of sound, colour and joy. It seams that the audience becomes part of the show. Giufá’s lyrics tackled the carefree, street life, nomads life and the social problems of the contemporary
era with a morbid sense of humor. Their lyrics, often embellished with spiritual imagery, focus on personal themes and sociopolitical concerns.
In 2012 the band released the single “Brucia” that anticipates the album “Ritmo Gitano”, the album was released in 2013 with the new single “Rumbagitana”. Ritmo Gitano introduce Giufà in the international
balkan world music scene such as one of the most promising band in Europe.
Ritmo Gitano tour crosses the boundaries of Sicily and Italy( 93 gigs in just one year). In september 2014 the band release their new single “i re della città” feat Municipale balcanica, that anticipates a new album called ” Trinakristan”
In 2015 starts the european tour called Trinakristan euro tour and in december 2015 the band relased they re new album “Trinakrisan”. In december “Trinakristan” is at the 28th place at the top 100 itune italy chart.
