Recently a patient told me this was the remark by their pediatrician. Scoliosis can progress rapidly in both children and adults. In most cases it is not because of any specific thing the patient did, but part of the natural course of scoliosis. Closely monitoring the scoliosis with scoliometer and x-rays if needed is the best course of action.

Early intervention has been shown to decrease the likely hood of progression. 

Standard scoliosis screening is often called the "to late test" because by the time a pediatrician or school nurse notices a rib arch or poor posture the Cobb angle may have reached 20-40 degrees already.
