Peggy Gou’s Gudu label announces the second edition of its Various Artists compilation series, Gudu & Friends Vol. 2.

First launched last year, Gudu & Friends Vol. 1 featured eight new tracks, from already-established label regulars (DMX Krew, Mogwaa, Hiver, Dukwa, Brian de Palma) and a trio of new faces (Closet Yi, Salamanda, Lady Blacktronika). In keeping with the international outlook and spirit that has always been at the forefront of Gudu, the compilation comprised artists from South Korea, Italy, the UK, USA, Korea and Ukraine.

Released on May 2, digitally and as a limited cassette edition, Gudu & Friends Vol. 2 features a batch of new faces to the label — Alinka, Gina Breeze, Jordan Nocturne (featuring Coco Cole), Minju and Nyra — alongside Hiver, Mogwaa, Dukwa and Matisa.

Each Gudu & Friends compilation will have artwork tied into the lunar new year. For Gudu & Friends Vol. 2, the art comes from illustrator Jin Young Choi (who also illustrates the Gudu Mix series) and reflects the year of the dragon.

Hiii, Octo Octa here! I'm sharing a new mix series I'm doing under the name "Groovy Girl" and the first entry is "Bang The Drum" <3 

It is a house and acid percussive groover of a mix that will hopefully have you raving where ever you are. Mixed on two Technics 1210 M5Gs and a Pioneer A9 Mixer, plus some overdubs on the recording. 

This release is a Mix CD tracked so you can jump back over and over to your favorite part. The CD insert has photos of all of the records I used for the mix in order.

T4T LUV NRG is about to rock your stereo this spring with a sequel to the label’s first release “Raving Disco Breaks Vol. I” (2018). Eris Drew wanted to create a new sound for the second volume of her acclaimed mixtape series instead of simply retracing the pure disco vibes of the original. Setting her sights and intentions on creating a rock ‘n’ roll infected house mix, Eris worked on building crates for the last five years, finally reaching an inflection point—a moment of concrescence—when she was ready to put the needle on the records and let the beats flow. “Rock The House” was born, a concept for Volume II built from musical fragments, memories, and synchronicities. There are no classic Big Beat tunes on Volume II, instead Eris kicks out the jams for this mix with non-stop house and breaks cuts featuring plenty of rockin’ vocal vamps, as well as the likes of Janis Jopin, Joe Strummer, Ramones, and Led Zeppelin—all sampled, scratched and dropped along the way. Both sides of the mix include some of her most personally coveted recordings. To gather these records, Eris spent decades identifying tracks from older mix cassettes recorded by her DJ heroes, such as Terry Mullan and Mystic Bill, as well as discovering many of the featured tracks through happenstance and countless hours digging through dusty bins and YouTube rips. Each of the tracks on Volume II are at least 20 years old—some much older—but fresh is the word here, and the word is freeeesh!

Now, as the snow melts and the flowers of rave romance start to bloom, T4T wants to know one thing…Are U ready to rock right?

‘10 Years Love On The Rocks - Sky Is The Limit’ is a compilation celebrating a decade of the seminal label, a reflection on its journey, the current status of the dance floor and a pivotal moment for its founder; a personal essay over eight tracks on ten years in the game, from one of the most unique voices in the industry: PARAMIDA.

The V.A. features a selection of artists reflecting the idea of chosen family at the heart of the label – figures responsible for early releases such as Massimiliano Pagliara and Fantastic Man, to Alex Kassian, recent additions E-Talking and Running Hot, and newcomers to the label such as Sweely and Dreamphaze – a collaboration between Alex Bradley and 90s techno legend Neil Tolliday – to name a few.

Expertly curated and sequenced, equally rewarding in close listening and on the dancefloor, there’s a thread throughout that pairs laid back grooves with cinematic, emotional chords, tripped out keys and melodies, and variations in ambience, with highs and lows that feel reflective, nuanced, considered and masterfully crafted; a reflection of the maturity that has developed in the label’s output since its first release in 2014, Massimiliano Pagliara’s classic ‘Flying Away From You’.

Connecting classic house, prog and balearic influences, the label’s sound remains indefinable but unmistakable and in full effect here, not afraid to reference iconic prog/trance and even euro dance in a compilation that envelopes the complete spectrum of dance floor emotion. There’s nothing out there quite like this – a quality true of all the label’s releases, an achievement that was both the focal point of the label at its inception and a full circle moment that speaks to its development – staying true to itself while progressing with (and shaping) the times – a decade later.

“I never expected Love On The Rocks to make it to ten years,” explains PARAMIDA, whose own trajectory over the same period of time – to Panorama Bar resident and one of the most prominent, boundary-pushing and sought-after artists in the game – has been nothing short of meteoric.

“Everything has a beginning, a middle and an end. When the time comes, I know what the last release will be. But it never feels like the right time. This compilation represents the past, present and future. It’s an inflection point. After this, anything is possible.”
