It's a backing track we had to play over for a Guitar War Tournament  .

It was originally called storm rider but I changed it of course to CPHB !

What's that you say Guitar war ? Yes great site for guitar players that want to improve their skill's
and meet like minded people on line. We also have a chat room online
called Guitar war as well on Cam frog so we can all hang out and jam talk about music etc.
This song was picked so everyone had to play and come up with
something inventive the guys vote for a winner and then you go

Took me about 5 days to record from scratch and learn new recording techniques

A Devo song I love the timing is great 
you get this almost polyrythmic pattern when the vocals come in.
Saw a band doing this live in a Pub in melbourne with my first Girlfriend hehehe

Put That Thing Down !

This is mainly Keyboard Mox 6 Yamaha everything was played in real time except Drums Shuffle and percussion was real sound  samples.I played all the many keyboard parts accordion flutes Sax parts Rhodes Hammond B3 and just weirdness in general with a crazy guitar solo in the middle lol .At the end was a Lao khaen played by a master Ajarn Tongseuy in Thailand playing part of Lum Long I just added chimes and volume swell guitar.Can I just say Thailand is my spiritual home and I love my beautiful Thai princess Viphavee with all my heart. Do The Isan Shuffle(ทำสลับอีสาน)

Here is a bit Gabriel with a hint of crimson and Holdsworth influence.This is another composition written after  I got back from Thailand once more so there is a theme here as far as rhythms and sequences are concerned. 

So I was conceptualizing as I wrote it with poly rhythm's in my mind and I concentrated on the synth as the skeletal idea, as usual, it grew into this piece.

So it was all played in real time with my Yamaha Mox 6 synth again this thing is an awesome synth and a great tool for writing. The sounds are so close to real instruments without having to drive Vst's.

The Bass was all keyboard bass as I use it a lot you can get so many crazy and varied sounds, yes I know it's not as organic but I'm practicing my keyboard chops ok ! and I do it either all the way through or in this case in blocks as it was a killer at it was pretty well much 2 sequences but with key changes.

I used addictive drums with different time signatures and I worked on this the most to get it to work and for the middle eight.The guitar solo part was to make it more dynamically appealing and simpler as this is a busy piece just with all the rhythms as it is.

I also used a hi hat in one track to keep the pulse and rhythm synced up so you always feel where the one is when you're listening to it.

I used the arpeggiator sequences on the keyboard in sync with the drums as I started this with the synth so it was going to be a synth song as I have been using the keys lately to improve as a keyboard player and I have never really used the arpeggiator much so it was fun.

I kind of get sick of the guitar sometimes so that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it. I actually added the lead guitar I used the Carvin with two different tones on the Guitar rig 5 at the end as an afterthought , so with the less is more approach in mind and for me it was a good idea as I like a solo to say something in a short amount of time be interesting harmonically and with a touch of WTF.

The guitar parts were done near the end as it was written with percussion and synth in mind and I wanted the guitar to say something melodically instead of just soloing all over it as usual and have a bit of control with tastefulness with a touch of weird instead of being totally out there.

Goodbye Pork pie Hat (Dr Vision)

 lol...did this a few years ago for a Guitar war entry in the TV theme war. I lost to another guy who play the  lion king theme...ha ha ha I had so much fun doing this and was happy with the result.I think mine was to mental.Took me days to do as well.The screaming guitars at the start is weird flanger and bending.The arrangement is borrowed from John Williams who wrote it, I just funked it up a bit.I love all of John Williams film music and themes just amazing.I loved lost in space when I was a kid in the 60's..... Danger will Robinson Danger !!!  ...

Lost In Space (TV Theme )(Dr Vision)

I did this about 4 years ago I was looking on You tube and found a video from the 80's or 90's with Simon Philips doing some drum demo.So I played the guitar to it on the fly.Totally improvised but ran through it once or twice and hit record and I filmed it ha ha ha.Worked really well considering.Sound's a little bit wishy washy because I took it off you tube and the guitars a bit to gainy but the video is a hoot.Uploaded it for prosperity. Scary Faces (DrVision)

Iv'e recently just come back from Thailand so Iv'e had some  inspiration of ideas after spending some time after the trip just resting.With the keyboard as the main instrument the first sound at the start of the song was the main idea and it grew from there.I love the percussion ideas and worked on that for a while editing adjusting beats time signature's etc.I wanted to add vocals and found some vocal loops of a girl singing just a few lines of lyric's with some oohs and ahhh's adlibs etc .So I chopped it up, harmonized the vocals and added and edited where I wanted her lines to be with in the song.Just shows you how easy it is to combine stuff these days.Being an old analog guy it's so easy to manipulate anything.In saying that you just have a quicker  creative process and the out comes can be surprising.It turned out really well I thought. It's often it's what you leave out that makes the song.I wasn't even going to have guitar on this track so it's sparse and only power chords with some clean volume swell's as an after thought, just to build up the song.I hope you like the finished result at having a go at a commercial pop tune.Just a bit of fun..... lol Cheers Dale :)

Did this from scratch added some newer synth sounds and reharmonized it in parts.The original is off it's face but I had fun with this.I hope you enjoy.Thank's ;)

Had to do this cover of Franks tune is one of my favorites changed it a little but basically close to Mr Zappas tune. 
I used Addictive drums Yamaha mox 6 keyboard sounds and my Carvin Holdsworth guitar.

More Trouble Everyday( Zappa Cover)

Well this song brings up lots of memories for me and gets my blood pumping 
But I play this nearly everyday to warm up my poor old fingers.
This has the original bass track taken from the master tape drums and Vocals I got off the net and just added one dirty pumped guitar
and one clean.

Hot For Teacher (Cover) Backing Track Jam

Ok this was a Backing Track I found on the net made by Terry Syrek - shred is not dead 2007

So I give credit to Terry for this awesome short but sweet BT gees that guy can shred for sure he's 

awesome he has some great exercise's you should check out the book and CD .

I just extended the track as it wasn't long enough so I could solo over it and I came up with 

these crazy crazy Idea's .I have recently bought a Jackson with 24 frets and

it's a totally different beast to my strat and the neck is so bloody wide and fast wow.

Check out the Ring modulator solo its insane.I added some effects and strange lead up sounds 

to the solos to make it interesting listening as its the same thing all the way through but it's not to long.

The problem I have now is I have so many ideas for this it's just one idea OMG ! 

I had to put down something otherwise I'd still be playing it as a BT.

I think the key is in G minor but I was playing a half step down so it's F sharp demolished now !!!  

Anyway just a bit of fun.See what happens when you listen to way to much Allan Holdsworth it creep's 

into your head slowly over the years and it Squeeze's your Brain
