Whilst I wrap up the latest EP, I delved into outside influences, including Boards of Canada. Late to the party, I now realize just how forward-thinking and expansive their output is. I fell in love with 'Kaini Industries' immediately, and felt compelled to take it somewhere it had never been. Some in-depth research led me to the back story, and how the industries had been a means to create employment for a settlement of Cree Indians. The influence of this was something I wanted to incorporate into the edit itself. This is my interpretation, I hope you enjoy

Draft - Eyes Shut

This remix is official, without being official. The stems landed in my inbox, and as a sporadic venture, I opted for something different. It's rough, raw and unhinged - matching my mentality at the time of rewriting. I reworked the melody via an acoustic guitar, then recorded and layered  with additional guitar tracks. I also rewrote the orchestral  arrangement towards the end of the track, to give it a bit more of a feeling. I knew that other producers would opt to have some electronic-driven take on the original, which in theory, is a lot more personal, both in topic and delivery, than a simple 4x4 remix warrants. It's an intimate track with a very intimate lyrical subject, so I opted to convey that personally, via guitar, in a physical manner. I kept 'dud' guitar string hits in, as well as scratches along the fretboard as I moved around - this was never meant to be 'clean'. I hope  this version stirs something inside of you. If it doesn't, thank you for listening anyway. I'm just trying to break the mold and do something different

Everyone has their own little space, a place where they can be themselves. Mine happens to be holed away with an acoustic guitar. I was late to hearing the original, let alone catching wind of stems being available. Over the course a mere 4 hours, the first thing I'd done was remove all elements aside from Yosie's vocal. There was something about feeling it, and being isolated with alone with them. Then, 1 acoustic guitar and 7 separate tracking takes later, this rewrite was born.

I often say I try to show the musically acoustic side of the electronic world. This is just another one of those. Here's my interpretation.

As the newest member to the elite mau5trap artist roster, Liam Tallon, aka Draft, debuted in 2013 under UKF’s electronic label Pilot. With his bespoke brand of meticulously melodic, bass-heavy electronica, his first EP provided wide acclaim and provided him a platform to a further 2 EPs, before he joined the deadmau5' famed mau5trap family.   

Tallon has since released twice on the 'We Are Friends' albums (the only artist to both times curate/produce the full-length accompanying mixes) , as well as having 2 EP releases – the latter garnering huge plaudits for his original portrayal of electronica.   

2017 now holds more releases, live shows, collaborations and a venture into the visual side of music production, with the continuation of his highly regarded ‘Inside The Project’ video series
