Electric Fields was originally written when I was about 13 and was based on the Elysium Fields, but “Electric” was easier to work with! The song was changed and rearranged over the years until around 1988 when a group of us were hanging at The Corner, fighting, cussing, and smoking. A few houses down a preacher lived and he happened to be hosting a youth group from his church that night. The youth pastor and his sheep decided to come up and speak with us (I like to think against the wishes of the senior pastor who lived there). They began by explaining they heard us using the Lord’s name in vain and asked us if we knew what Hell really was. We, not so reverently, listened to them explain to us how, essentially, they were smarter than us, better than us, and had a secret key that we could have if we were more like them. At the time I found it funny, a little later I became angry and “The crazy rain begins to fall upon my aching head…”; the song represents their crazed, misinformed, “we’re better than you” bull...

Dragonfly Pond was started in the Fall of 2015 to explore and combine various musical styles while utilizing unique and experimental recording techniques. Mainly, although not exclusively, focusing on instrumentals, Dragonfly Pond combines analogue with digital, “soft” instruments with “real” instruments, and “in the box” recording with live microphones and tube amps. Mixing Experimental Rock, Post-Rock, Space Rock, and Psychedelia with Downtempo, Electronica, and Tape Music, Dragonfly Pond builds unique soundscapes utilizing everything from acoustic and electric guitars, to ground up synth sound design and “found” sounds.
