Cataclysm is the soundtrack to an out of control future where human beings have gone beyond the threshold of tipping the balance of nature.  Wildly erratic climates, unmaintained unconventional weapons and a collapsed infrastructure lead to a chaotically wild, dangerous and diseased existence for the mutated creatures that can survive on it.

Chaocity is a punky rock track depicting the current state of disorder in the world in an anthem of caricatured discourse and was recorded in Beijing during the darkest hours of lockdowns in late 2022 .  

A huge shoutout goes to the lads from Back Seat Bingo for showing up at a clutch hour and putting the gang vocals on the record where they belong.  Thanks guys!!!

Chaocity

River of Shade features Justin Howell on vocals as well as acoustic and jazz guitar.  Dan (Dragonyst) did all the production and recording work, co-wrote it including the lyrics, and added the guitar solo and other instrumental elements.

The song is a spiritual soul journey out of chaos (as portrayed in Chaocity, another track in this collection) on a literal and metaphorical river into the unknown.

River Of Shade (featuring Justin Howell)

Heat of the Flight is a song about escaping from Chaos (its the third in the sequence of tracks:  Chaocity ->  River of Shade ->  Heat of the Flight) and arriving on the actual limits of the unknown as a river delta spills into a jungle (both literally and metaphorically).  It has the feel of a more modern twist on a CCR track, with a touch of Miami Vice (there's a whole lot of Vocoders on the chorus).  It makes for balmy listen any time.

Gypsy Fantasia is a folkish rock track infused with Spanish flamenco spirit and influence.  It tells the story of mystical love at first sight between a gypsy and a wandering troubadour in the mountains of the Pyrenees and takes you on a trip through Iberia via heart and song.

This is just a one off recording of a morning jam I did today recorded on the iphone, no musical editing, just a little bit of a mix and a master.  Hope you enjoy it.

Butterfly Sky Morning

"Runners are escaping on the sector plane the threshold is down..."

This track provides the sci-fi electronica-rock soundtrack for the story of  a pair of space vigilantes escaping from the esplanade of a space-station after they have completed their mission as interlopers.  As they are pursued they fall into zero-gravity space under the craft "sub-horizon, under the dawn", where they behold the constellations that mesmerize them with their sigil like powers, "parallel signs".

Escapyst

During the production of this track, while laying down the main synth lead which comes in around 0:54 seconds, I killed a mosquito and, while continuing to play, channeled its soul and performed its funeral and sendoff to the afterlife right then and there.  The track then became aptly titled "Funeral for a Mosquito" and the rest of the sound was built around it.

Aryzen is an epic journey in electronica characterized most significantly by its alluring opening that is quickly overtaken by a massive synth bass drop which takes over to act as the lead engine from then on.  But it is accented and embellished with numerous changes, guitar chords, and rare musical touches in a longform unorthodox format that ends with with a tom-driven, synth/guitar saturated climax.
