this is probably the most complex track I've made both harmonically and melodically, and probably the most work I've ever put into a track - none of which is saying very much, but I'm still very proud of it nonetheless.

It was not made for any game, and instead is a standalone song that I made over the summer while I was taking piano lessons and learning my chords and scales and all that good jazz.

I actually put an effort into trying to learn mixing and mastering this time around, since I enjoy music as a hobby and really do want to get better at it. it is FAR from perfect, as I am a literal beginner at both of these, and I felt incredibly out of my depth the entire time - but I think it sounds leaps and bounds more pleasing to the ears than some of my other songs.

the pic is a small shot from a scene composition project for one of my level design classes, crushed through a bunch of filters. during this song, I imagined an underground cave, that was both spooky but inviting and wonderous. I figured I would kill two birds with one stone, and make my composition project double as a cover for this song.

additionally, this song's length is 4:13, which is the funny homestuck number

The Witch of Candlelake Cave

Originally, I started making this as a part of a practice thing I'm doing where I try to recreate the sound of different game soundtracks. This one was supposed to be based on Monaco: What's yours is mine. I liked it, so I spent a while turning it into a full song. It contains *most* of the layers / stingers you would hear in the actual game - the Mission Select Stinger, Stealth layers, Action layers, Escape Ready layers, and the Escape Stinger, in that order. The transitions between some of these sections were a little rough to figure out - I would compose the sections first and then figure out the bridges between them later, which kept biting me in the ass. 

I'm not super happy with the mixing / mastering, but I am still learning. There's some bits of the song that I feel are a little rough but I couldn't manage to sand them out (well, before my patience ran out, anyway).
