Calgary's Tigerwing is a musical force to behold — performer, vocalist, producer; equally deft in all — she creates powerful, provocative art and we are thrilled to present Black Light / White Lies.

"Abraca-Bye" kicks things off — a visceral 808 anthem with the male-dominated music scene in its crosshairs as tense synths ride on top of plunging basslines and vindictive double time switch ups. "Cold Hands" is a teetering slow jam built on swirling, hazy synths which lace themselves amidst lyrics of cautious physicality, while bells circle delicately around your head space. "Tell Me" starts as a bit of sparse piano and drums and quickly grows into a dynamic showcase of Tigerwing's signature vocal arrangement and manipulation, with her voice flitting and darting out from a chorus of one.

Drama Hands resident Spurz returns on remix duties, giving "Abraca-Bye" a harrowing, frenetic footwork refix. Calgary duo Yung Dutch put a pulsing, cybernetic twist on "Cold Hands", welding on some punishing sub work in the process. Edmonton's Lamer take the driving 4/4 feel of "Tell Me" and run with it, replacing most of the original elements with moody pads that slowly evolve amidst the pair's trademark minimalist percussion.

@spurz follows up his debut Drama Hands release, Spirit Functions, with In the Bright Light of Flares — further building on his uniquely dark and heavy sound. "LeaveU" starts off the record — a fast paced heavy-hitter that hearkens back to early grime, with barrages of punchy kicks and pixelated video game synths laying the groundwork for the track's soaring vocal sample. "Marred Linguistics" is a minimal dubstep roller, purpose-built for pitch black raves with thick walls of sound — swirling synths drone, build, then drop out, giving way to cold stabs, reverberated horns and double-time rhythms. Lastly there's "Celeste", a deconstructed nod to early hardcore and trance that rounds out the record — lo-fi breaks push and pull the tempo as rave sirens drift in and out, gently giving way to an ethereal feminine presence.

Also featured is an all Vancouver lineup of remixers — RBMA alumnus @jadestatues 'Pan Flute Regurgitation' edit of "LeaveU" blows apart the original, adding extra artillery for the dance. @chelsea_grimm adds his signature warm synths to "Marred Linguistics", giving the remix a skittering 2-step flavour, while the mysterious @children-of-euphoria pulls "Celeste" from the past into the present, turning it into an aggressive, breaks laden DnB stomper.

@children-of-euphoria is a mysterious musical collective started by E. Childs, a former Belgian Formula 1 racer whose obsession with breakneck speed is imbued in the collective's music, though it is created by of a revolving door of producers — E. Childs states, "no one is Children of Euphoria, we are all children of euphoria."

"Bibimbap" commences with dripping tribalistic chants and pitched breaks which abruptly give way to cavernous pads and the echoes of 303 basslines. "Ditz" is a bubbling drum workout with ping-pong bass alongside classic house touches courtesy of Chicago native @heartbeat_s who guests on the track. "Let's Ride" serves up acid house and footwork elements at a rapid pace, never yielding even as airy vocals glide in on a wave of washed out cymbals. "Burn Bright" channels early rave and hardcore elements, with glass synths droning and pulsing through clanging breakbeats. "Same Ol' Thing" ends the record on a high note — an anthemic, jazzy footwork number with punchy bass and vocal chops in tow.

@camerontraxxx brings the tempo down on "Let's Ride", crafting a cut of classic house around the vocal sample — purpose-built for twilight rooftop parties. Vancouver's @phateofficial takes "Ditz" to the underground — a sparse, effective house flip with a descending bassline set to test any system. @cyber-spa master @gutted-angel rips and tears at the threads of "Bibimbap", reimagining it as a churning, throbbing cybernetic entity. @alexm_music transfigures "Same Ol' Thing", throttling back the tempo to reveal a bouncy bit of warm house.
