Drawing Mazes is Chicago-based Singer/Songwriter/Producer Chris Pusinelli.

Drawing Mazes reflects on our joys, anxieties, grief, and the challenges we face on our journey through life.  

Living with Friction, the debut EP released on May 1st 2024, is comprised of songs that focus on the importance of human connection and how we need it to thrive.  This theme is channeled through various influences that range from the cinematic pop of The Flaming Lips/Sufjan Stevens (‘Planning an Escape’) to the quirky indie rock of Dirty Projectors/The New Pornographers (‘Living with Friction’) to the folky, danceable duets of Belle & Sebastian/Arthur & Yu (‘Stay Loose’).

The self-titled EP, released October 4th 2024, can best be described as a story that began May 2020 at the piano.  I was playing a simple looping melody while my son was upstairs getting a bath, innocently enjoying life and unaware of the anxieties the world was facing.  This 2020 performance is "Your Joy (Remembered)", the fifth song on the Drawing Mazes self-titled EP - featuring a laughing kid and a scared parent trying to convey as-best-as-he-could on the piano what a daily routine could sound like when you want to try and make it as bright as possible in a world becoming darker.  The 2024 songs that surround this older performance ultimately ask - how can we better understand what our stress is telling us?  Do we look to the past or do we look within ourselves?
