Returning with mankind on occasion of his recent cassette release with the label - "Operation Cherry Blossoms at Night."  Adding to the story, the feeling, the mythos and world building that was laid out in the tape through the music, lyrics, artwork, and liner notes, mankind's mix sequences a fever dream of sorts (it literally did soundtrack my delirious illness a few weeks ago) of the deepest, murkiest tunes.  And through the murk there are moments of light that peek out and steal our thoughts away.  Ideal grey winter music... drop in.

The artists of “Stray Observations Volume 3” don’t necessarily answer these age-old queries directly but lend different moods, environments and places to ponder these thoughts.  From bouncing three-movement tech house to Aphex Twin downtempo worship, this compilation offers the spectrum of emotions and thoughts splintering out from the contemporary mind.

Yet his contributions as a producer, in my opinion, always deserve more attention. Dusty, understated and full bodied, Evidence’s production carries a powerful quality - one of sonic and human warmth. For this reason, he remains one of my all time favorite producers . This mix serves to highlight his productions in recent years (2017-2024) - made in humble tribute, with peace and love.

This is a mix I put together for the Concrete Folk Tape Takeover on Noods Radio September 2024. I was asked to produce a 60 minute mix tape which I decided to focus on music from Bristol, where Noods is based. Side A of the tape covers reggae, dub and post-punk from the late 70's and early 80s and then side B moves onto trip hop and other experimental dubwise sounds from the 90's to the present day.

Not a "Greatest Hit" per se, but easily my favorite (early) Mac song, edited across multiple versions & fidelities to play somewhat seamlessly for over 2 hours, with the mix slowly being eroded by a cavernous echo that is being gated by the dynamics of the dry signal.

EDIT, 06/17/18. I was taken aback by Danny Kirwan's passing a few days after I originally posted this. One of my all-time favorites, esp. within the context of both this lineup of Mac & this particular song; the original studio session which starts off the proceedings here was his first recorded appearance with the band! 

I've taken the original premise & fleshed it out a bit further, so that it can be put it to rest; this revised version uses the following versions of "Albatross" in a program that loops three times; almost entirely dry, then slowly fading in the reverb signal, finally slowly fading out the dry signal:
