Kurt Brine born February 1985, is the producer/DJ behind the melodic psytrance music project Dream Weaver. His MIDI production studio is based in the Byron Bay area on the north coast of NSW, Australia.
He began attending local outdoor psychedelic gatherings in the late 1990s at a young age and fell in love with the unique music and culture.
From 2000 he started DJing area under the name Kismet, with great response from the local scene, he frequently played at events for years following.
At the same time in 2001 he started work at a local company, Kurt spent 7 years learning live sound hire and sales of pro-audio equipment. Following this he has done free-lance audio work compiling almost 10 years experience in live sound.
2004 brought on the ‘Polka’ project collaboration between Tiffin (1/2 Double Vision), Luke (Strange Planet) and Kurt. They frequently DJ’d together at parties and began experimenting with producing music, sharing equipment, ideas and inspiration.
They gained quite a following in the local scene with their organic and raw sounding Aussie bush psytrance. However after only about one year together the three decided to go their separate ways.
In 2005 Kurt began work on his "Dream Weaver" solo project, deciding to switch to Mac and Logic production software, with the guidance of another local electronic producer Joshua Dobbie, a valued friend and music production mentor, Kurt’s sound has grown in leaps and bounds.
Dream Weavers music is best described as a blend of warm flowing bass- lines, lock ‘n’ pop percussive groove, euphoric melodies, intelligent structure and epic atmospheric spatialisation.
Since his project began over the years he has been performing his own music at many of the NSW/QLD outdoor festivals and countless psychedelic gatherings in between.
Having been studying for the last 2 years, he’s to complete his Bachelor of audio production degree at SAE HQ Byron Bay.
His main goal is to travel around the globe, experiencing the all the psychedelic cultures playing his music at festivals filling dance-floors with smiling faces.
