I dreamt of you again last night
I don’t really sleep so I don’t know if you could call it a dream - or just remembering
We went to the tower in the woods
The one by my house where we would wait for the sirens
And from the shadows watch the city burn
We laughed about how you lit the map after I poured the gasoline and how scared we were when it lit faster than we were expecting
Then we were in a room - the one with the white walls and the machines next to your bed
I remember ‘cause the woman came and asked if you wanted something to drink
You couldn’t speak so I spoke for you
We were kids but we never had childhood
I can’t remember what you look like anymore
I don’t know if it’s you or if it’s just a collage of images I’ve put together through the years
I still go back to the tower sometimes, waiting for you to come - waiting for someone else to follow
