This November Ryan Davis’ most-recent EP ‘Home’ gets two new remixes courtesy of the United Kingdom’s Vessels and Russian producers Gorje Hewek & Izhevski. Vessels' reinterpretation of ‘Obsidian’ elaborates on the original’s deep and dark undertones, laying other-worldly pads and cascading arpeggios on a kick-heavy drumline. Conversely, Gorje Hewek & Izhevski present a lighter, melodic rework of Davis ‘Dimmed’; the duo build on Davis’ organic sound design to compose a piece which is both introspective and refined.

For the last year, Honeydripper has been steadily making his presence known as a formidable producer and multi-instrumentalist with releases on Delve Deeper and Sooo Wet and a handful of festival appearances. His track “All About You” became a sleeper hit last year, racking up nearly a million plays on the Houseum YouTube channel. The Edmonton native’s unique sound is enhanced by his adept guitar and bass playing, which blend as seamlessly into his music as his carefully-curated samples, and it comes to a head on his debut EP for Night Vision: the Sunday Street EP.

The two originals here stand out from today's tidal wave of sample-heavy house; they feel and sound like tracks that were written by an ensemble of quality musicians rather than a singular producer. Sunday Street’s funky bass riff and jazzy piano are infectious together, creating a fat groove that has had crowds getting down all summer long. The tune is truly special and has achieved 'secret weapon' status by practically everyone in the Night Vision crew. Like This takes a deeper route with its rolling sub bass, muted trumpets, and sultry spoken-word vocal before dropping into a heavy slapped-bass riff that smacks of P-funk influence. Together, the two originals are absolute testaments to Honeydripper’s prowess as both a producer and a player.

On remix duties are Australian house phenom Subjoi and label mainstay Nick Garcia. Subjoi needs no intro at this point, having secured his place as one of the most prolific producers on the scene. His remix of “Like This” is definitely made for club play with its devastating bottom end and relentless groove. Nick Garcia came through with his signature style of electro-tinged deep house; his remix of “Like This” relies on atmospheric stabs, charging 303 riffs, and a clever reworking of the vocal to craft an excellent late-night mix of the track. With so many sounds and flavors on this package there really is something for everyone.

Honeydripper - Like This

Sirin, a bird of paradise, half-women-half-bird, eroticizing and magical. With his hypnotic singing, he likens a siren of mythical sagas of times long past. The compilation “Sounds Of Sirin“ takes us on a magical journey through a rhythmical, dreamy soundscape. In Downtempo, it flows along unknown paths full of fantastical adventures and cultural diversity with dreamy, melodic sounds, that enchant as if they were from the fairy tales of The Thousand and One Nights.

The caravan begins its journey, headed by Canu, Kleintierschaukel, Ahmet Atakan, Alef, Dole & Kom, Gab Rhome, Mark Alow, Feathered Sun, Jacob Groening, Los Cabra, Marco Tegui, Mert Eser, Raidho, Veronika Fleyta, Cha'an, Bedouin, Be Svendsen, Armen Miran, Ninze & Okaxy, Raw Main, Strolch and Hraach. High above, the bird of paradise flies, directing the way through the dark of the night, the stars shining mysteriously like diamonds.

Anstelle seine Musik nur mit Samples zu spicken, bringt Dandara lateinamerikanisches Rhythmusgefühl auch im synthetischen Frequenzbereich zum Ausdruck. Mit Pororoca schleicht sich ein Hauch von Cumbia durchs Hintertürchen des Unterbewusstseins in die Tanzbeine - während die Stimme der Sängerin und der versonnene Bassdruck ganz offensichtliche Wirkung zeigen. Quiero nutzt die gleiche Formel um etwas zu schaffen, das zur Spitzenzeit einer Party passt. Unter dieses Stichwort fällt auch der mit housiger Wärme aufgeladene Remix von Mollono.Bass. Pophop kommt hier sehr musikalisch, fast schon Song-artig rüber und funktioniert sowohl auf der großen als auch auf der kleinen Anlage ganz wunderbar. In der jener eskalierenden Ekstase, welche die unverkennbare Handschrift von Herrhausen & Treindl trägt, verwandelt sich Pororoca in trancige Verspieltheit. Und Timboletti weckt zwischen tropischen Trommeln und den fraktalisierten Echos des Gesangs unwillkürlich Fantasien von Feiern und freiem Himmel.
