The sun dipped lower. Shadows stretched across the salt pan. Lines of wild color spread over the sunset horizon. Color streamed into a toe of darkness testing the sand. Coal-colored shadows spread, and the thick collapse of night blotted the desert. Stars! She stared up at them, sensing his movements as he came up beside her. The desert night focused upward with a feeling of lift toward the stars. The weight of the day receded. There came a brief flurry of breeze across her face. “The first moon will be up soon” he said. “The pack’s ready. I’ve planted the thumper.” We could be lost forever in this hell place, she thought. And no one to know. The night wind spread sand runnels that grated across her face, bringing the smell of cinnamon: a shower of odors in the dark. Nandao comes from Sali and he’s a really unique gentleman. This is his offering for Shango Records. These two tracks can give you a Summer twist whenever you need it. Max TenRom, Barbarella and Mondocane are floating with the tide bringing cool fresh vibes and happy smiles.

The nature of the arts is one of those ancient enigmas which keeps thoughtful minds constantly philosophizing on its power. The mystery of art is deepened by the fact that inspiration can burst at anytime; any sound or fleeting glance can trigger a masterpiece. How can that be explained? We don’t know, and maybe we never will, but what matters to us is tending to that inspiration, and the conditions in which it thrives. This is the story of MA, the latest EP by Batu Ozer, which we are happy to bring to our listeners today. Old recordings of saz or string instruments resembling long-necked lutes, triggered the creative genius of the artist, and five new aural gems were the result.
The title of the album means “water” in ancient Turkish language. Its sonorities and motives evoke the elegance and preciousness of the old Anatolian history. Sounds of spilling water remind us of the fountains found in the courtyards and gardens of gilded palaces. Gentle choirs blend with lutes and finger percussion, effectively transporting us to the public intimacy of the ‘Arfana’: the public musical gatherings of the old times. All of the artist’s productions reflect this ancient beauty, which skillfully revisits and elaborates with electronic effects, resulting in a timeless weave of antiquity and modernity.

The next chapter on our journey is with the two talented musicians Dario Klein & Marten Sundberg. They teamed up together in Cologne to create the „Mikasi Project“.

The use of digital and classic tools and instruments creates a dark downtempo composition combined with techno influences, which you can expect on this release.
