Immortal Contact was a transformative journey into the depths of my soul where I was called to utilize every resource that I had in order to bring this song to full fruition. I worked with the pallet of samples that were provided by Mad Zach, used samples from Splice, and created my own sound in these works.  I included vocal performances from Karra and Rudeboy MCs that I thought fit the theme of the project along with reflecting on what was happening in my life. This song is a story about love, loss, perseverance, strength, and resilience.  On our path, we will find ourselves experiencing the highest of highs along with the lowest of lows, but may we find power and have faith in knowing that life is always happening for us, giving us the resolve to continue moving forward, towards our highest vision that we have for ourselves.  I would like to acknowledge ill Gates, Spiderhound, Seth Drake, Cryptochronica, 6th Street, Hexis, and Clint Moody for their contributions to the co-creation of my debut release and express my deepest form of gratitude for their guidance, mentoring and support. The goal of this Cypher was to create a dope lo-fi instrumental hip hop beat using at least 1 sample from Memory Code’s sample pack. It's all about using texture, vibe, and pocket/groove to help the late night listener zone out to another dimension. The final mix is reminiscent of the beat tapes that producers use to shop their beats to emcees and record labels, and which have also become a popular listening format for fans.

Terra Cotta Soldier is named after the army of 8,000 clay soldiers kept in the tomb of Qin Shi Huang, the first emperor of China, from around 200 BC. These soldiers were made to protect the emperor in his afterlife and each one carried a weapon and was the size of a real person. The solemn mysticism around the flute, paired with gritty basses and ever-changing atmospheres feel like they depict the life of a holy warrior whose responsibility is sacred yet everlasting.

Bass-heavy stomper 'Daniel and the Apocalypse’ is the follow up to debut single ‘Animals’ and takes Debris Discs in a much darker direction. The same palette of analogue synths, drum machines and guitars are churned into a swampy electronic brew, while the dreamy melodies and harmonies are now tinged with melancholy. 

This track is an attempt to make sense of the seemingly doom-laden world around. It’s a survival technique that shuts out the noise, keeps loved ones close and concentrates on the day-to-day. The title is borrowed from Sir Isaac Newton – he believed the world could end in 2060, and as this new tumultuous decade begins some may agree. Debris Discs' song purports that we should side step the doom mongering and instead focus on the here and now. 

Daniel and the Apocalypse is also the first part of an audio triptych that explores themes around hope and survival, to be released throughout the coming year.

Dream Tonic (Kristin Allen-Farmer) is a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and music producer. In addition to performing and recording, she writes music for film and TV, with her latest tracks being featured in the new Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser Adventure hotel in Disney World. She pairs a lifetime of being a classically trained pianist with her love of electronic dance music. Her ethereal vocals, warm pads and heavy subs reveal whispers of her biggest influences - Billie Eilish, Morcheeba, Bjork and Portishead to name a few. Her sound has been described as dream-pop and trip-hop with heavy bass influences.

Kristin is proud to be a member of the Class of 808, an elite squad of EDM producers who release music under the Producer Dojo label, founded by the acclaimed bass music pioneer, ill.Gates. In addition to Dream Tonic, Kristin has various side projects and collaborations underway, including original contemporary classical piano, public domain classical arrangements, 80’s inspired retro synth wave, deep house and future bass projects. Kristin’s diverse catalog is currently represented by a variety of sync agencies and music libraries.

Kristin is based in San Diego, CA. When not producing music, she can be found teaching music to the next generation of prodigies, spending time with her husband and two young children frolicking at music festivals, dancing to Afro-Brazilian percussion or relaxing on the beach with a cold drink.
