This track is about the attitude that comes with the professional training of a teacher. While the additional training outside of the content area is important. Sometimes, the training can be of no importance. Or at least, that how it feels...

Teacher Training

This track is about the ups and downs of daily life. Whether it is at work, with the family, or in the bars; the feeling of moodiness can creep on anyone. This concept is exacerbated through the different modes played in the melody and solo.

Feeling Mode-y

This piece is based on a specific pitch class from a 12-tone series; and is based on the stylings of John Phillip Sousa with the applied pitch class. The Sousa composition I drew inspiration from was Manhatten Beach March; mostly, how the song ends through a decrescendo. I believe the intent is to simulate a marching band passing by.

Parade Season

The Kwaa Kwaa piece assigns the tenor drums as the guitar solo in the beginning with variations. The snare drum imitates both the drum set and vocals for the first part of the highlife stars' recording. The bass is the bass with variations from both snare and tenor. The cowbell is a traditional part for that instrument found in most highlife music from Ghana. The cymbal part is the clave found in many African and African diasporic communities. There is a version of samba in the Ghanaian drumline piece, Kwaa Kwaa, that is a version of Lapa Samba found in Downtown Lapa, Rio de Janeiro.
