The last of the "15 minutes" mix concept.... created on Jan. 20th 2020.

I couldn't come to terms with 15 minute mixes, but it was a fun concept while it lasted!

Some rough personal events at the end of 2019 and then early 2020---this was *before* the pandemic---with the pandemic ON TOP, unplugged me from this effort for the rest of 2020... survival mode. 

I decided to make an event out of surviving 2020, both mentally and physically, by grabbing a handful records I'd either bought that year or had set aside to play with them. That brings us to the last part of this series, the eponymous mix, "Il Ricorso Senza Fine".... ===>

I've moved all these files over from mixcloud today 12/16/22, to create this long-overdue playlist of a project that should have always been here in one place. 

From November 24 2019:

"I'm starting a new mix series called "15 minutes with You" (from the Smiths). I've had this idea for a long time, with the gist being to make short mixes for our attention-starved world. It's very much the opposite of my recent 5-hour marathon for Voder, "Techno Life".

A pile of records, 2 Technics and a Bozak mixer with two gain knobs, no long-term planning or practice, just short term, emergent vision. The next mix will start where the other left off.

For now there's no overarching theme, or genre, but it'll be mostly electronic music, all from my record collection.

My plan is to make one every every week. Stay tuned!"

What's bonkers, ~exactly 3 years later, is that at this time, I had just received the most terrifying health news I had ever received. It put me in an extremely dark head space for the next month and a half thereabouts. The mix became about something else altogether: dealing with the terror. The positively chipper tone of the above says a lot.... As men of my generation and older were socialized to do, we don't talk about or admit or tell anyone when our lives are falling apart. Consider this a public expression of that, albeit 3 years later....

This limited Psychedelic Meltdown cassette release is linked to an event series of the same name curated by The Slow Brown Fox, taking place at Sameheads in Berlin. As stated by its name, the series aims to mind-bend the audience through trippy and unexpected music, freely flowing between electronica and sounds from the beyond.

This first showcase presents a double mixtape released via Sameheads being the manifestation of the magic experienced on the inaugural night of January 6, 2024 featuring Loma Doom, Akvilina, Lizzie Urquhart and The Slow Brown Fox.
