Next up in the Fast Forward Audio Series, we present: Dima Kachan  

Dima Kachan is a Belarusian DJ and producer. He began his musical career in 2009 as a participant in hardcore and punk bands. A few years later, fascinated by electronic music, Dima made his debut as a promoter and journalist to develop the local electronic scene, which organically flowed into DJing. 

In 2018, Dima founded the Pravda25 project, which regularly organizes huge queer parties Somasutra, positioned not only as raves but also as a mindset with a retained focus on quality music, hedonism, and freedom of self-expression. In 2020, Dima joined derschein project (the biggest and most iconic techno platform in Belarus) as a resident, and in 2021 he released his first techno EP, «Euphoric Recall» on that label. 

Dima’s playing style can be defined as eclectic but mostly built on fast and expressive techno. Two primary goals that the artist sets for himself at every performance are establishing a strong connection with the huge crowd on the dance floor and turning an ordinary DJ set into an adventure with unexpected but harmonious twists.

Fast Forward Audio Series #72: Dima Kachan

Tresor Records are proud to reveal the outcome of a new collaboration between two of techno music's most remarkable artists, Maedon and Adam X. The Lion & The Ram is a unique and exciting hybrid of industrial, rave, and hypnotic techno sounds. This LP marks the full debut for both artists on Tresor Records, with Adam X having appeared for a remix of Neil Landstrumm in 1997.

Both Berlin-based, Maedon and Adam X have worked tirelessly over the forced lockdowns, finding a kindred spirit in locating and sculpting the most badass kick. This album is undoubtedly an impressive representation of the range of kick drum synthesis, from thunderous impacts to carefully tuned pulses. The duo's competitiveness over kick drums has led to a masterpiece of mesmerising techno. Across the thumping drums and sparse, mechanical soundscapes, every track on the album follows a journey into the dark and unknown.

Tracks grow with increasing power sourced from dystopian samples, such as Human Replacements, "people are being duplicated, there is something missing". It reflects the stifled time we all spent, haunted by uncertainty, cooped up and seeking expression. Corrupt Pigs emphasises this with the refrain, "welcome to the land of fuck". Crunching bass and rusty percussions gather as a herd, like a rallying call to signify that, at last, we may let loose. With its unrepentant rhythms and ruthlessly brutal sound design, The Lion &amp; The Ram discharges Maedon and Adam X into daring new terrain.

Roughboi, new member NŪR family. He has been making music since 2018. His motivation is to push the limits of techno and create atmosphere that are filled with high energy. 

Roughboi originally comes from Cyprus, Larnaca but lives in Prague for some time now. We were intrigued by his uncompromising and radical approach to music. Match ~ match.

Revoliucionieriumi karjeros pradžioje laikytas Claude Monet baigė savo karjerą žinomas jau kaip tradicinis, stilistiškai neinovatyvus ir seniausiai nusibodęs tapytojas. Keista, kad trumputis žmogaus gyvenimas yra pakankamai ilgas išgyventi visą šį ciklą.  Nors naujovių vėjus dažnai suvokiame kaip madas, idėjas, judėjimus, šie vėjai, visų pirma, yra žmonės. Tokius žmones, deja, įvardyti galime tik žvelgdami į praeitį, o esamuoju laiku galime regėti tik potencialą, kurio mūsų šios savaitės svečias toli gražu nestokoja.

Veiveris digg’inimo metodikas atrado dar labai jaunas, naršydamas tėčio muzikinę kolekciją - kasetes, kompaktinius diskus. Paauglystėje nusipirko pirmąjį sintezatorių, kurį sekė vis nauji instrumentai, ritmo mašinos, sempleriai. Šiandien nesuvokia dienos nepaklausęs muzikos, nepramankštinęs sintezatoriaus klavišų. Ši aistra puikiai atsiskleidžia sparčiai gausėjančioje autoriaus diskografijoje. Veiveris jau spėjo sulaukti pripažinimo už savo mini albumą ‘Drumstis’ Partyzanai Plius leible, bei visai neseniai paleistą  ‘Naktis EP’. Galime tik džiaugtis, jog jo kūryba puošiasi ir mūsų numylėto Orkaitės leiblo kompiliacija.

Saviekspresijos klodus Veiveris nagrinėja ir per mados, dizaino, bei videografijos prizmes. Domisi stiliumi ir saviraiška apskritai, todėl ir savo pasirodymuose ekstravagancijos nevengia, tokiu būdu sukurdamas pilnavertišką ir įsimintiną savo, kaip asmenybės įvaizdį. Jau kuris laikas kaupia video medžiagą senoje VHS stiliaus kameroje ir tikisi, kad ateityje sintezė tarp šių kūrybinių mediumų tik sustiprės.

Stilistinių barjerų Veiveris vengia tiek grodamas, tiek klausydamas, tiek kurdamas muziką. Kiekviename žanre mato savų stiprybių, o geram performanse tikisi kelionės per skirtingų stilių ritmus, garsus, melodijas. Šios ypatybės puikiai koreliuoja su jo pastebėjimais apie dabartinę situaciją užsienio elektroninės muzikos rinkoje, kuri, anot jo, yra  beveik perpildyta leidiniais. Tarp jų jis girdi daug geros, savo funkciją atliekančios klubinės muzikos, bet pasigenda pokyčių, inovatyvumo.

“Akivaizdu, kad dabar yra daug muzikinių talentų, kurie kuria profesionalią muziką, bet nenori nuklysti į šoną, išmėginti ką nors nauja, pateikti savo turinį per neįprastą perspektyvą. Nežinau, kiek tai mano galioje, bet turiu tikslų įnešti naujų vėjų.”

Gaila, kad tik dabar sulaukėme jo savo podkaste, o galbūt kaip tik vieną dieną žvelgsime atgal ir džiūgausim, kad pavyko jį į svečius pasikviesti taip anksti. Nors Veiverio laivas jau ir taip sėkmingai plaukia, mes vis tiek jam norėtume palinkėti: Vėjo! Vėjo! Vėjo!

GSG is a project created in Tbilisi in 2017, it is represented by Henry Jokharidze, who is also the creator of the label NoSquad. GSG stands for God Save Guys.

There are several genres in music that Henry prefers, they are the ones that keep him moving not only on the dance floor, but also in life. These are such genres as: Old School Techno Trance, Electro Break Beat , Hypnotic Break Beat. 

Henry also does his own production and participates in creating big techno events in Georgia.

On March 11th GSG will be part of first Backside Slice party in Tbilisi, and will play 2-hour set. Everyone who is in Tbilisi - don't miss this event!

And with upcoming releases on STRECK & Echoes of October’s Verdorben, he doesn’t plan on hitting the brakes anytime soon.
