The shaman uses ceremonies to transform fear and guide others through their own transitions. In ceremonies we learn to be present with the direct experience of fear, even when we want to avoid it.

Sound has long been known to have deep therapeutic qualities. The main element of healing music is the root sound. The focus on one note brings the listener to the present. It is grounding and can induce a higher state of consciousness. Combine that with dancing and you are now moving the energy, freeing your body from stuck emotions.

This is the purpose of this album. These are the tools for the modern shaman.

Italian DJ and producer Gianluca Pandullo a.k.a. I-Robots has chosen six of his favourite Electronic Emergencies tracks to reconstruct. The second part of a collaboration after a digital-only compilation of EE tracks by the founder of Opilec Music in 2020, the six rigorous reconstructions on this double 12-inch are long, luscious, and full of energy. Move Like Rays by Machinegewehr was injected with a high-energy vibe, while Das Ding's Want Need was transformed into an electro classic. Skeleton Head's queer anthem Beaten, Bloody, Bruised was given the percussion treatment, Danza Obscura by Borgie got an Italo Wave twist, and New Wave legends Chris Davis and M/A/N/O/S had their tracks worked over by dubby electro and minimal techno. 99LETTERS aka. Takahiro Kinoshita, a Japanese artist who has been an active member of the local Japanese underground scene and has a knack to create deep and atmospheric soundscapes.

Early on he was producing chip-tunes using a Nintendo Gameboy, these experiments gravitated him towards a more raw and esoteric house and techno soundscapes.

Takahiro Kinoshita says BYAKUYA/MIDNIGHT SUN’ EP was composed by using various noise components and Tape-like sounds to take the listener on a fascinating and atmospheric voyage.

It's his second EP for the label, the first being the Bleu Infini EP back in 2017(although some stellar tracks of his did appear on the Lost Transmissions compilation which is getting a repress this year and the Invisible Family EP#3).

For those unfamiliar with him, Bal5000 was pretty big on the drum & bass circuit a decade or so ago (known simply as "Bal" back then) but more recently he's been exploring this kind of bass-heavy spaced house and slo-mo acid sound like you'll find here. Kind of reminiscent of I:Cube a little...but you'll find it definitely has its own distinct flavour.

Myths about whales came from the East to the Greeks and thus were included in the Apocrypha. In the Greek “Physiologist”, where the whale is called άσπιδοχελώνη, the same legend is given about it as in the collection of Arabic fairy tales “1001 Nights”: “The whale is like an island; shipbuilders pester him and, driving in stakes, tie ships to them; the monster does not move; but as soon as a fire is lit on its ridge, it immediately goes into the depths, dragging deceived travelers with it.

'Aggelos first approached Lurid Music with the idea for this project a few months ago. We agreed on one condition, that all proceeds be donated to refugee causes, like we did with his Black Sea EP which supported the Syrian refugee crisis. When Russia invaded Ukraine, we decided our focus had to be helping the Ukrainian refugees who were forced to leave their homes in search of safe havens abroad.

We discussed this with most contributors to the project and the consensus was that donations should strictly go to humanitarian groups and not any armament funds. There were also some thoughts about helping conflict-affected peoples in other parts of the world but we decided it was too much to tackle for a relatively small project like this one.

The glory days of the Italian horror movie industry, except for a few exceptions, might be a distant memory, but its music keeps on living. The duo project Dressel Amorosi (Heinrich Dressel - MinimalRome, Mannequin, Bordello A Parigi / Federico Amorosi - and Goblin’s Claudio Simonetti - Daemonia) is one glaring example.

With an unmistakable prog bass and scratchy synths, Dressel Amorosi compose the soundtrack of an imaginary movie. The intimate, captivating and at times distressing sounds that characterize that genre in the 70s and 80s are brilliantly captured and revisited in this project. The coldness of electronic music fuses with the warmth of a Prog Rock bass in their captivating debut album “DeathMetha” released on Giallo Disco Records.
