Depuis plusieurs années déjà, ma tante Agnès se pose la même question : mais où peut bien être enterrée cette foutue Chouette ? 

Comme elle, des milliers de joueurs et joueuses se sont cassé la tête sur les onze énigmes créées par Max Valentin, censées leur permettre de retrouver le trésor. Une contremarque en bronze, échangeable contre la véritable Chouette en or, argent et diamants, estimée à un million de francs. Après l'emballement médiatique des débuts, la chasse est retombée dans l'oubli. Elle continue pourtant d'agiter toute une communauté d'acharné.e.s qui, 25 ans après le lancement du jeu, ne désespèrent pas de la trouver un jour.

Ce documentaire part à la rencontre de cet univers atypique composé d'adultes qui jouent, et tente de répondre à la question : qu'est-ce qu'on trouve quand on ne trouve pas ?
