This is a bootleg I literally made while drinking coffee in my university's Student Center. It took all of about 10 minutes, and yet, it's pretty effective. Use as you please; it's a fun one!

My first international success released the first time on Wyze Recordings back in 2005. Gained big support and was my first ever track to be played on BBC Radio 1 (Pete Tong's Essential Selection).
Then released with new mixes on Noir Music in 2007. Among fans...... this is the "Noir Anthem" because of the spoken word in the track. This Peter Gelderblom Special Edit is only available from "Best Of (2006-2009)".

The latest track from enigmatic London act @fish-from-japan, “Move On” is the first installment in the ‘Discovery Project Releases’ series from an artist outside of the Discovery Project alumni family. Its classic piano hook and catchy vocal are balanced by a jackin’ beat and a solid sub-bassline. The shifting mood is a perfect example of the kind of soulful, deep grooves the group is pushing.

Fish From Japan - Move On

As Dirtybird originated in San Francisco, we were pretty spoiled music-wise. The city was filled with world class DJ's that you could see in a 2000 person club on the weekend, or after work on a Tuesday at a taco restaurant. There was a litany of quality music that rolled in week in and week out from all over the world that had a sound that perfectly set the unique vibe of SF.

There were so many great records during these golden years that often times a brilliant track would get a brief stint of fame here on the dancefloors and bars, only to disappear and get replaced the following week when the next round of records arrived at the shops.

“Is That My Wig?” & “Cha For Che” from Asadihno are two examples of tracks that take us back to those years where tech, deep and soul didn't mean a thing and everyone danced under one roof.

Initially released in 2008 under his original artist name Asad Rizvi, “Is That My Wig?” has been re-discovered by Claude VonStroke and freshly packaged with the previously unreleased “Cha for Che” on our Dirtybird Select label.

A skateboarder first and producer second, west coast based Drew Dapps took quickly to his second outlet, and within a couple years of dropping his debut EP he was touring across the continent sharing his unique minimal grooves city to city. 

Born in Las Vegas, Drew was introduced to cooking up hip hop beats while in school, then got involved on a deeper level once he discovered house music after relocating to San Diego. 

It wasn’t long before he established a presence within the scene and started playing reputable venues, sharing the stage with legends like Chris Stussy and Dimmish. Showcasing his distinct minimalistic flavor in releases, performances, and fashion shows - the sauce has proven to resonate with DJs and fans alike. 

Growing up on artists like Pharrell Williams and Drake, Dapps has always aspired to take his imprint to the highest level with a complete lifestyle approach. Combining music and fashion in a fresh context with his Dapps Apparel clothing line has set in motion his influence in the culture.  

Steadily celebrated as a mainstay in minimal through his avant garde merch and larger than life videos, he has always sought to push the sound as far as it could go through carefully thought out creations and tight bonds with fans. Dapps is living proof that music transcends boundaries.
