"The goal of this mix was to straddle the line between a few different sounds I’m really vibing on right now. We start things off with some haunting melodic house and transition through some indie dance and ultimately land with some peak-time bangers that have been sure bets for me this summer.

I have always been a firm believer in the power of spoken word samples from across the world to elevate house music into a more cerebral place. I have also included a collection of vocal records that tug at the heartstrings and, I hope, pull you into goosebump territory. Great songwriting in any genre is impressive, but I hold a special place in my heart for those producers and vocalists who can bring everything together in an underground record that can also work with a broader audience.

The last time I did an Electronic Groove Podcast was nearly a decade ago! Big thanks to the EG team for their continuing hard work to shine a spotlight on the various elements that make this music and culture special.

On a more somber note, please keep an eye on friends and family that may have gone quiet over the last few weeks or months. Everyone’s dealing with some level of depression, anxiety, and burnout due to the pandemic and the state of our world right now, so try to do your part to help those that may be struggling know that you’re there and feel less alone. We're starting another week with a beautiful mix by Australian DJ OLIIV. Based in Sydney, OLIIV is a DJ best known for her versatile sweeps of melodic and deep grooves. A vessel for the avante-garde, her unique sound is always grounded in authenticity.

A lover of electronic music from a young age, it wasn’t until 2019 that she started the journey as an artist. In a short time, OLIIV’s musical passions have earnt her a residency with Return To Rio, whilst also hosting club nights as label co-founder of The Fan Club Collective. She has curated podcasts that have been featured on international platforms and radio stations, as well as running her own podcast series Fan Club Friends. She is also the Music Director and co-coordinator for Neomenia - a Sydney based boutique festival.

Regularly supporting some of the biggest names in the industry and with some international gigs on the horizon, there is an exciting future ahead for OLIIV.

Listening to Martin Waslewski is like taking a journey that blurs the boundaries of electronic music: with groovy tracks, between house and melodic techno, he tells musical stories without saying a word too much and thus always and immediately hits the nerve of the crowd in his sets. To the point! 

Martin discovered his love for electronic music in 2010 after growing up in hip hop. And so he is now at home with labels such as Bar 25, Get Physical, Stil vor Talent, Monaberry, Exploited Ghetto. But he's also no stranger to the international scene - from New York, Bogota and Ibiza to the Amsterdam Dance Event and Sonar Festival in Barcelona - he's already made a lot of people happy with his music.
