Caravan

My most recent composition, featured on Lab 2014 and as played by the fantastic One o'Clock Lab Band! Features Gabe Evens on piano, Jack Helsley on Bass.

Blues For Gabe

This is also from Lab 2014, and it features the band on a lesser-known Dave Brubeck composition that I decided to arrange and give to the One o'Clock.  I take the first solo, followed by Alex Hahn, then Ally Hany on trumpet, and Joakim Toftgard on trombone.  The band then plays an extended fugue, shout chorus, and classical counterpoint section including sax quintet!

Cassandra

This is a new tune that was originally commissioned for Dave Lown's Carroll High School. I adapted and modified it for the Two o' Clock Lab Band's album: "It don't mean a thing, if..."
It's a more modern piece that plays with different phrase lengths and a fun melodic theme that evolves over the form.

Vaguely Reminiscent

This is one of two vocal charts with big band that I wrote for the new Two o' Clock.  Originally written for Marlene verPlank up in NYC, this features Marion Powers on vocals!  This is meant to remind you of the classic Basie tradition and how they treated standards with singers.  Hope you enjoy!

This is my crazy arrangement of All the Things as performed by the amazing One O'Clock Lab Band of UNT, featured as the first track of Lab 2015!  This has been submitted for grammy nomination, so please get the word out if you enjoyed this track!

A recent arrangement I did for Manhattan Transfer vocalist and co-founder Erin Dickins!  This features the DFW Fellowship, my big band of the usual suspects, and features Mrs. Emily Cranford on the vocals.

Morning Edition Theme

This wonderful performance from the Toshi Clinch Big Band features the wonderful Connor Eisenmenger on Trombone, as well as a great performance from everyone in the band.

This track is taken from the point of view of the Biblical character of Job, at the specific point in the story when he is about to lose all faith in God. The main trombone theme describes his persistent hope through the trials, while the surrounding harmony and textures are a reflection of his state of mind and surroundings.  The piece ends in the point of the story just before the Lord speaks to Job.

This is a cue I did for a new video game called Portarius that I worked on with Toshi Clinch - I did the menu music, which is looped in the game, but here's a run through the theme for your enjoyment!

I'm thrilled to say this officially won the Sammy Nestico Award, selected by Sammy and the Airmen of Note! The track is performed by the Toshi Clinch Big Band, and features:

Video Game Cue - The Ominous Forest

A Beethoven piano sonata that I orchestrated for UNT's Concert Orchestra!  This is just a reading, but they did a wonderful job!  You get a good sense of the piece, just imagine it a little faster.
