A collection of mixes that I have curated with conscious intentions that is ripe for meditation, relaxation, yoga or dance.

There are cross cultural, cross religious, cross dimensional influences across my mixes, highlighting the underlying theme of cosmic oneness. Some of them are carefully curated studio mixes inspired by various places along my spiritual path, others are live recordings for conscious dance and yoga events which capture the unique energies of the people and intention.  

I mix my tracks based on feelings of depth, ancient understanding, metaphysical drawings and philosophical inclinations of freedom and peace. They also showcase my roots as a Progressive, Trance DJ embracing an enfolding spiritual path. 

It is my hope that humanity along with nature can come closer together as one and see past superficial divides and adopt more sustainable ways of living and caring for one another. No man can fully live the present without acceptance of his past, no tree can grow without strong deep roots in the dark soil. The melodies, genres, quirks, struggles and emotions that shape us form the powerful base/bass of our essence.

I call forth and honour the deeper and darker side of progressive trance shaped by the Coldharbour sound that has been the container of my deep emotions for power to release them, and eradicate the hurdles and bullshit of our lives so we can progress to actualisation.

As my ongoing journey towards integrating organic instrumental sounds with electronic music continues, I have gone deeper into multi-instrumental sound healing modalities, while not forgetting my electronic and musical roots. Upon finishing a few online sound healing immersion courses, along with a horde of new instruments accumulated in recent years such as the melodious Rav drum, Sansula, Reverie Harp, Singing Bowls, frame/shamainc drum etc this is my first fully original produced/composed analogue & electronic sound healing mix.

Starting deep with the intention to ground into our raw emotions and mother earth, we immerse in deep drone frequencies and humming/drumming before washing away and releasing with my fluid melodic sounds, progressing to the heart strings and finding more introspection. Sound Healing Journey within (episode 1) - Earth to Heart

Lunar Moves is an intentional mindful healing music and movement journey curated for embracing the gentle power and inner softness within us all. It is in collaboration with movement facilitator Julia Vasko, and in tandem with the New Moon of each month.

The theme for this month is gentle inner fire, love, grace and softness. The live recorded music is curated based on these intentions and the group energy of this session. It consists of meditative electronic drones, binaural beats, ambient downtempo electronica, world ethnic music, overlayed with live instruments such as Tibetan Singing Bowls, Rav drum and Reverie Harp.

As I immerse and offer more sound healing/meditation sessions, I will be showcasing the therapeutic sounds from the instruments in my arsenal, played with intentions for deepening of self understanding and release of dis-ease. The long running Prognosis series will start to showcase these live mixes as an easeful ambient solvent to your worries and tensions, before the more groovy/ uplifting segments come in as later parts.

Ecstatic Dance (Apr 2023) - Full Moon

This is a special reflective mix that I have been working on the past month as I integrate the musical wonders of the ambient, downtempo, world and sound healing realms that have touched my soul deeply the past year and beyond - at chillout/ conscious gigs and on a personal level.

Putting on both my producer and DJ hats on for this, has been rewarding and challenging. This mix contains 4 of my own tracks which blend electronic synths, samples and live therapeutic instruments. Along with my own edits and blend of inspirational artists such as Carbon Based Lifeforms, Yaima etc.

The arc for this journey follows a familiar and powerful narrative of grounding into and being at peace with our innermost emotions, shadows and thoughts pleasant and unpleasant, before we slowly embrace the melodies of world, nature and cosmos, in both beauty and melancholy. In this mix I pay homage to the middle ground - my roots in melodic progressive and ambient music that has fed many souls and encapsulated emotions of hope, yearning, melancholy and connection to something greater. 

I have mixed tunes old and new that are accessible for all to groove, work, study, reflect, chill by the beach or connect within and without. I have always felt that the beauty of progressive lies in its ability to touch the soul as a background for all activities, existing in between the main genres of electronic music.

Prognosis 28 - The Melodic Middle

Sharing this special organic multi-instrumental recording that can help to take you into a meditative and grounding trance for relaxation or self understanding. I am pleased to have my friend Marian provide her intuitive earthly vocals on this track. This is a tribute to mindful and meditative wisdom stemming from Buddhist practices, which we subconsciously channelled, and realised only after finishing this on the spot recording. We went into a peaceful trance ourselves, and created some sort of hybrid chant in this track - you can also use your own mantras to chant along to this track :)

Dr Foo feat Marian - Meditative Grounding

Together with my Tabla teacher Nawaz from Temple of Fine Arts, we composed and recreated 3 devotional songs/ bhajans for live Tabla accompaniment. They encompass Buddhist, Hindu and Sufi traditions. 

We would like to showcase how Tabla and world cultural music in general can help us ground meditatively and connect us as one across cultures and religions - especially in today’s world of increasing volatility. We hope you enjoy this and dedicate this to whoever needs peace and blessing.

I used various instruments including guitar, harp, guzheng, rainstick, Tibetan bowls, synths, nature sounds and harmonium to produce these pieces, in addition to sampling existing mantras and vocals.

Rhythmic Bliss - Bhajans with Tabla and Multi Instruments

Sharing this live recorded set at Singapore Garden Festival for a yoga flow showcase in the middle of a lush edible garden pavilion, together with live movement from two yoga instructors. A blend of live instruments (Rav/Handpan, singing bowls, synths) and downtempo tunes from the likes of Divasonic, DJ Taz Rashid, Eqanimous, Bliss Looper, Torkom Ji and Yaima.

Garden Festival Live Yoga Flow set (Aug 2024)

A recollection of 2024 with a deep intentionalised journey from offering tribute to wisdom sources across cultures, religions and sacred lands to moving into the range of emotions, such as doubt/uncertainty to joy and love. Always a joy to craft a journey across multi faceted genres and sounds across downtempo, ambient, world, ethnic house/trance and random cultural music from my travels that have moved me. As another year passes, I hope this mix helps you to introspect and pay respect to yourself and others, while moving you physically or energetically :)

This is a live recorded sound bath performed at New Bahru open lawn, using Ableton synths, samples and live instruments such as singing bowls, handpan (rav) and harp. I have always said that music serves a higher purpose of healing and elevating, and this is the primary thrust of the mix. This mix shall immerse you on a journey like no other through the sacred vibrational flows of sound. Ultimately, this also signifies the underlying purpose of darkness as an honest palette to the realisation that we are all beings of light, capable of spreading much needed divinity to the world.

Indeed, there has been a fundamental change in the primary emotions and energy used to create this mix. Previous driving forces of anger and destruction have been replaced by compassion, spirituality and hypnotic wonder. 

This mix will serve as a reflection of the quest for greater meaning and purpose in our lives - The search for dharma and reason for being. The understanding of greater forces out there that can serve as our spiritual compass. The peaceful understanding of Oneness amidst diversity. The appreciation of beauty that manifests in different forms. The sacred wisdom  of Buddha, Vedic philosophy, ethnic cultures, scriptures and religions. The notion of peace across humanity when we let go of negative emotions/things/people and appreciate the beauty of all. The awakening of an inner understanding of immense power within, with boundless connections to the universe. The concept of being in flow and activation of your Chakras. The grand duty of serving and helping humanity achieve this state of peace and higher consciousness. Listen to this wherever and use it to dance, groove, work, meditate, reflect or do yoga.

We are all spiritual beings having a human experience through the mind - body vehicle. The soul is eternal, a part of the universe, experiencing human experiences through the human body. The cycle of life and death ensures that we come from the same source. We are more than what we appear to be. This is my live recorded set from Singapore's Burning Man edition of the Fire Monkey, edited with some special indigenous raw goodies at the end. Really loved the vibes of such an event, and most certainly these are the kind of gigs I want to be playing at, should I be Djing live outside. Perched on the 3rd floor of a playground overlooking hoardes of conscious people in open air, with fire dancers and painters accompanying, the stage was set for a chill out, spiritually inclined tribal set. Dr Foo Live Spiritual Sunset Progressive - The Aurora Journeys / Saturdaze (22 April)

As part of my ongoing spiritual journey, I was called to join a sacred group tour of Ladakh from 1 - 11 August.  This mix is inspired by the beyond comprehensible energies and beauty of Ladakh, as well as the journey before and after the trip. New connections are opening up, as we allow sound and frequencies to take us to our true nature of higher vibrations. I have taken a while to concoct this mix, setting an intention to facilitate deep meditation beyond just peace, towards a connection to the energy patterns that govern this universe. This mix consists of ambient electronica, world music, psychill, mantras, solfeggio frequencies and light language. Solfeggio frequencies have the ability to balance your energies and tune them in harmony with the universe. Best listened progressively with ear/head phones.

Meditation & Movement for Higher Vibrations ~ Ladakh 2017 Special Mix

Live recording of my first collab for a meditation cum Kundalini Yoga cum conscious dance session with my friends Derick and Ting. It was a deeply peaceful session, and I felt totally different before and after the session, like some energy bathed us all. The mix begins with healing frequencies followed by beautiful Kundalini mantras, then psychill and downtempo beats leading into hypnotic tribal beats that you've come to associate with Dr Foo. Overall, a very enjoyable flow, that somehow facilitated energy therapy within the participants too. Gratitude for the synergies, and I hope this mix helps you in the meditation, relaxation, movement and life in any positive way :)

Meditative Kundalini Dance (Live Set ~ 21 Oct 2017)

With an opportunity to curate an extended live 3 hour set at last week's amazing T Party at Owl Bar (SG), I purred with progressive delight. Even 3 hours is too short for us progressive DJs. With a balanced approach, the mix entails the various elements of authentic being. Starting off deep, sensual and melodically ethereal as you've come to expect, we then peel deeper within into the roots of being, embracing the bliss and the shadows as I make a sumptuous return to Coldharbour in the latter hour. Some familiar tunes in there from my various progressive house and trance staples, and a big big shoutout to reminisce scene of 2008 at the end, as well as how inspirational Markus Schulz in his founding years was to us. 

As artists or souls we evolve as we discover new layers or lenses but we never lose that integral core of being, that deep (and dark where necessary) pillar of support for flowers to bloom. It was great to connect to that again, for the flow to just be. Balance is the key to progression.

Dr Foo's 3 hour 'Return to Progressive Harbour' live set @ T Party (28 July 2018)

Thoroughly enjoyed playing this set from the soul space of cosmic unity. Asked by the organisers to 'bless' and open the night for Pranava, a progressive and psy trance themed night. Pranava means "Cosmic Sound" - Om - the sound that everything in the entire of existence makes if one hears it all in totality. This mix is a soul stirring trip across some amazingly lush and deep psychill and ambient tunes, as we journey progressively into deeper and expansive states of consciousness and new beginnings. Enjoy the journey and mind travel. There is some absolute magic in the ambient, downtempo side of trance, such as the stuff from Carbon Based Lifeforms which is richly inspiring - fusing artistry, soulful humanity and cosmic wonder.

Also shoutout to my soul sistar Sage, who did some enchanting live vocals (couldn't record them in this mix) during the set impromptu, adding to the vibes of the event.

Ambient Progressive Trip (Dr Foo Live) ~ Pranava (15 Sep 2018)

Brand new episode of Prognosis is back, after a few months of introspective brewing, soaking in the lockdown as an opportunity to bring to light the aspects of self that have been hidden away in shadow, with compassion and worldly integration. 

Learning to embrace and take responsibility for recurring patterns in our lives, the theme/intention of this piece is to connect, observe and allow transmutation to occur as it comes. 

This mix as the first part, is an ambient piece, laden with live instrumental overtones (Tibetan bowls, tuning forks) and virtual synths as well as Binaural beats to take you into calmness and relaxed concentration for unwinding, studying, work or self integration. A journey crafted in recovery and reconnection to our essence that is unchanging and un-judging regardless of circumstance. Melodic and meditative, this piece is curated with the intention to lift and support you in any experience you are facing at the moment, and remind you that your true nature is always available to support you from the depth of the waves of turbulence on the surface.

The first track is an original production I made for a meditative soundscape infusing binaural beats and melodic drone sounds to help myself entrain into relaxing states when overwhelmed - from prolonged periods of restlessness from the lockdown or worries from my recent surgery. Past year has also presented an opportunity to introspect more, and a natural synergy with more soothing ambient and downtempo tracks ensued, as depicted by the first part of this mix, which I hope help soothes you and brings you into a more positive expansive space like it did for me. We journey to deeper parts of self and build into light grooves with a selection of many talented downtempo/world/electronica artists from the likes of Carbon Based Lifeforms, Yaima/Utooto, Divasonic, Ancestral Elephants, Imagika Om

Prognosis 25 - True Nature

Sek Sheng, also known by his artist name ‘Dr Foo’, is a sound meditation facilitator, musician and DJ who holds space and prescribes music for healing and integration of deeper aspects of the self. He has immersed in and been trained in sound healing, yoga, meditation and music production in an ever evolving journey in the past 10 years.

Dr Foo believes that sound is a universal language that can re-awaken our innate power and connection with all, and serve as a fun yet sacred medium for healing and understanding. His journeys emphasise the importance of owning our darkness before true healing and expansion can occur.  

His sound healing journeys interweave live therapeutic instruments (singing bowls, harp, melodic drums etc) with electronic music (hypnotic synths, binaural beats), nature sounds, ethnic music and mantras across cultures. It is a reflection of his journey starting as an underground club DJ in Melbourne to immersing in yogic journeys in India & Bali, and then realising the power of sound for therapy.  

In recent years he has curated soundscapes for yoga and meditation events, full & new moon sound healing journeys as well as ecstatic/conscious dance events.
