This song is a track which I heard played on a local Detroit radio station back in about 2008, immediately downloaded it and I've had it ever since.

I recently remembered I had it and I thought I'd upload so you all can listen.

I DID NOT MAKE THIS TRACK!

It was made by a Canadian rapper named Kyle Spratt.  I downloaded the mp3 from SoundClick, where it was uploaded to. The quality sucks, but that's the way I got it.
I did censor the song since he swears quite a bit.

I do believe he just got the backing beat from SoundClick's libraries, it would be awesome if someone could tell me what the name of it is so I could attempt to edit it in better quality. For now I had to back-mask the words as it's really all I can do.

Kyle Spratt - I'm Crazy

I love the song What a Feeling from Flashdance, but I've always felt that the original version is just way too slow to actually dance to.  The speed change was inspired by Deborah's Stage Door, a local dance studio that my sisters have taken lessons at.  They had a much faster, sped-up version of the song that they used for their recitals, and gave my sister a copy on a CD.  The quality was awful, being sped up very robotically, but was at least a bit more up-tempo.

So I obtained the highest quality versions of the track and instrumental as I could, and then used the program "Amazing Slow Downer" to adjust the tempo, leaving the pitch intact - otherwise Irene Cara's voice would sound like a chipmunk!  Contrary to the program's name, it can speed songs up too, and it does a much better job than anything else I've used. (Sadly I'm not being paid to advertise for them! I just thought I'd mention the name of the program in case anyone else is interested)

I also combined elements of the longer 12" edit with the radio edit, into a mix that I think sounds a lot better.  Enjoy!

Flashdance... What a Feeling (DRF Edit)

This is a piece of the orchestral score, used in the 4KIDS dub version of Pokémon: Destiny Deoxys (the seventh film).  It was made to sound like Bree Sharp's song This Side of Paradise, which was used in the end credits.

In Japan, the song Lovely Boy by Tommy February6 was played in the end credits - and accordingly, this scene in the movie had an orchestral version of that song as well.  That piece was actually on the soundtrack album released in Japan.  But since 4KIDS doesn't release soundtracks anymore, I took it upon myself to grab this from the DVD.

For tech gurus: I used the original region 1 DVD (the only one I know of to have 5.1 surround sound), and simply muted the center channel where all the dialog and sound effects were.  I then mixed that down to stereo, normalized it, and viola!

This Side Of Paradise (Score Version)

This is a peculiar mix of Kid Rock's hit "All Summer Long" that I recorded off of Channel 955 (a Detroit radio station) in 2008.

They regularly played this version instead of the regular mix.  What's different about it is that the backing beat has been changed and no longer samples Werewolves of London.

I am anxious to know where this came from.  Did the radio station record the backing track themselves and then just place an acapella over it? Or is this an official remix or what? I can't find anything like it on Discogs, though that doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

All Summer Long (Channel 955 Version)

I was listening to Sirius-XM radio earlier and was totally surprised to hear this little sound byte being played on the air!

For those who don't know, on the Pop2K channel, every weekend, Lance Bass from *NSYNC hosts a countdown of the top 30 songs from that month in a given year (the year is different each week)

This one from August 2000 started with a little clip of Professor Oak introducing Ash to Pikachu.  I know Pokémon was technically bigger in 1999 than in 2000, but it was still huge at the time, and I absolutely love the fact that this made it on air in a nationally syndicated program!

The quality sucks I know... I had to record it over my sound card when listening to the "on demand" stream, it's a 64kbps (mono?) stream, and since it's all encrypted I had to just record it in Audacity.  Not ideal, but it's better than nothing.

Sirius-XM Radio: Pokémon! (Pop2Kountdown)

Ever since I first played the Luigi's Mansion sequel for 3DS, I've wanted a copy of the little "ringtone" that plays during the game to put on my phone.  It was never possible to extract the file due to the encrypted nature of 3DS games... that is, until now.

For those who haven't played the game, this little sound effect plays whenever the professor calls you during the game.  It's meant to sound like an actual cellphone would, hence why I thought it would be perfect to put on my phone!

Note that the sounds are stored in a looping format normally - they will simply repeat forever until the music changes.  What's included here is two entire loops, then a fadeout.  If you want a longer track, just open it up and loop it some more.

Some geniuses came up with a way to decrypt the ROM data from 3DS titles, and that made audio extracting possible! I converted this to PCM WAV format from its original ADPCM-derivative compressed format, so that it will playback on anything, including SoundCloud's player.  Feel free to download the track if you want to use it as a ringtone for your phone as well!

All copyrights belong to Nintendo.  Had this been on some sort of official soundtrack that you could actually purchase, I wouldn't have uploaded it.

X/Y has all of its music in .aac, 128kbps 48kHz format.  It's the only 3DS game I've seen that has music in a normal format that can be played right off the bat.  However, it only had one loop, followed by the start of a second, and ended abruptly.  So I added a second loop in and saved the result as uncompressed PCM.  No quality loss!

Pokémon X/Y: Happy Birthday

Ever since I heard this song in Rock Band (before I even knew what The Guild was, let alone watched any of it), I loved it.  It's totally relevant to me, and it's a great song for anyone who, like myself, considers themselves to be nerdy and doesn't appreciate being picked on by the "cool" people.

This edit is fairly simple, I just used the Rock Band masters and cleaned up the chorus a bit more to remove the profanity (the way it was left originally didn't make much sense.)

I do note that one line was changed from the regular version.  In the original, the line is "Never earned your part in nerd society, my Aquaman pajamas prove my pedigree." Rock Band changed this to "Never earned your part in nerd society, while I kept all my cards and my virginity."
I actually like the altered line better - it makes more sense given the mention of Magic: The Gathering as well, so I left that the way it was.

(I'm The One That's) Cool (DRF Edit)

Just thought this would be a cool project to do now that I have the multitrack re-recording featured in Rock Band.  Basically, I muted everything except the vocals, keyboard, and very quiet bass.

John Parr - St. Elmo's Fire (Ballad Mix)

I downloaded this from Channel 955's website back in ~2009.  It is a clean version of the song with their own voiceovers at the start and end.

This isn't a "real" song, it's a mashup that contains verses from already existing songs on Trick Trick's "The Villain" album.  Eminem's verse is a sped up vocal from "Who Want It", Kid Rock's verse is from "2gether 4eva".  As far as I can tell, Trick Trick provided a new verse.

From The D - Channel 955 Mix

This is my first attempt at making a mash-up.  A friend of mine had mentioned to me how Rick James' "Superfreak" would go really well with Black Eyed Peas' "My Humps".  Due to a lack of availability of an instrumental version of Superfreak (at least the original one), I decided to use MC Hammer's cover of the song instead.

I'm quite satisfied with the results, I think it sounds pretty good.  The benefit to using U Can't Touch This was that I get to give it a funky name, hereby U Can't Touch My Humps.

Hey, who doesn't love Family Guy's rendition of Surfin' Bird by The Trashmen?  When watching the episode, I noticed it was a bit short.  So I compared it side-by-side to the original song, and made Peter Griffin's version similar in length.

Ever since I heard the song "Alone Again" by Alyssa Reid, I have really liked the chorus of this song.  I didn't realize it was originally a cover.  And I never really cared until- nah, not gonna make that joke.

But anyway, the song was recently released as DLC for Rock Band 3 on Valentine's Day (2012).  I bought it right away and listening to the multitracks, this song was absolutely beautiful without the "loud" guitars and drums.  This mix is only the vocals, keyboards, and some quiet bass.

And I actually made this song with a specific person in mind, these lyrics are so true about my feelings for her and I couldn't help but dedicate a song.  Yes, I realize I didn't do much "actual work" but hey, this is within a week of the song even being released in Rock Band, give me a break LOL

Yes, the song is sung by a girl.  But did you know that it was actually written by two guys? Heart's version is actually a cover of THAT version, but it's the one that became famous.  So it actually works just fine and doesn't really require gender-bending.

Similarly to the Listen to Your Heart remix, this is a remix of the song Wake Me Up When September Ends by Green Day that was made after Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans.

This is MY recording that I made off of Channel 955 (WKQI) in Detroit.  I do not know if any other radio stations had this mix or who made it (whether it's Clear Channel who owns 955, etc.)
I left the introduction on as that's when I started recording and you can hear the DJ talking about it.

I'm really sorry about the quality... I had to record this off of the "live stream" of the radio station, which is (at best) a 64kbps MONO stream.  I recorded it as 128kbps stereo which is complete overkill given the source.
I really wish I could have recorded this straight from FM but unfortunately didn't catch the radio in time, and the stream was delayed by about two minutes, giving me time to start recording.

If anybody has more information on where this mix originated, or a possibly better quality recording of it, please leave a comment.  This is all I have, it's listen-able but not much better due to the quality, sadly.

Wake Me Up When September Ends (Hurricane Katrina Mix)

This is a remix/cover/parody of the song Get Back by Lucacris that was done by Channel 955 (WKQI) in Detroit when the Detroit Pistons (basketball team) was one of the top-performing teams in the country.

I'm not really a basketball fan but I really loved this remix.  This is one of the LATER versions - as the season progressed, they would add more clips by the announcers, so the original versions were slightly different.

I'm really sorry about the quality... I had to record this off of the "live stream" of the radio station, which is (at best) a 64kbps MONO stream.  I recorded it as 128kbps stereo which is complete overkill given the source.

We're Back (Detroit Pistons Song)

This is an instrumental version, because SoundCloud won't let me upload the regular one! It gets blocked.

Ever since this song came out, I've loved it.  I always knew there was something "funky" in it but could never pinpoint exactly what.  And then Harmonix released it as downloadable content in Rock Band, and I was able to get the isolated multi-track audio that has each instrument separately.

The process was simple: remove the vocals and then fiddle with the levels until it sounded even better.  This boosts the "alternate instruments" tracks during the choruses, which contains that electric-bass sound you hear.  Compared to the normal mix of the song I think this one sounds pretty cool.

I'd love to share the version with vocals, as well, but unfortunately SoundCloud is stopping me.

No Doubt - It's My Life (Adjusted Instrumental)

This is my adjusted mix of the Bachman-Turner Overdrive song Takin' Care of Business.  I recently obtained the original studio multi-tracks and thought it sounded better with the piano taking the center stage rather than guitars.  I left the bass guitar, lowered the percussion a bit, and this is the result.

This song was undoubtedly made famous by SpongeBob SquarePants, in the "Krusty Krab Training Video" episode. The song is meant to be a low-budget production cover of "Eye of the Tiger" by Survivor... or at least that's the impression I get.

It is performed by David Reilly.  Nickelodeon conveniently left that out of the credits entirely.
By the way, the "1" is because there are two alternate versions of the song, see my uploads for those.

The track actually came from Associated Production Music, a company who caters ONLY to producers of TV shows and similar, and sells licenses on a per-use basis.  Just to get one piece of the song would cost almost $500.  The album that this track comes from is called Success.

I've obtained the full-length, uncut track from "MyAPM", a free-to-use Flash-based site where you can "audition" the tracks.  By doing a bit of URL snooping I found the original mp3 file and downloaded it.  This upload is untouched from that, so if you click Download, you can have the best quality of this track physically available without being an APM customer.

I know it's not great, it's only 128kbps... but that's what they had.  Thanks for listening!

Sweet Victory was undoubtedly made famous by SpongeBob SquarePants, in the "Band Geeks" episode.  This is an instrumental version of it, which was released alongside the regular track.

It is performed by David Glen Eisley.  Nickelodeon conveniently left that out of the credits entirely.

The track came from Associated Production Music, a company who caters ONLY to producers of TV shows and similar, and sells licenses on a per-use basis.  Just to get one piece of the song would cost almost $500.  The album that this track comes from is called "American Games".  Sweet Victory has been so popular over the past 20 years that it's actually been REMOVED from APM's database, and if you search for the album you'll just find a missing four tracks where Sweet Victory should have been.  Yikes!

So originally, the best quality you could get was 128kbps mp3, which is...not good at all.  But it's audible, and was meant for previewing a track before you spent hundreds or thousands of dollars on it.
Then, back around 2011, I came across a website called "Friendly Music".  The site was partnered with Rumblefish Inc (look them up on Wikipedia), and the relevant part here is that they sold individual tracks for just $2, with the rights to use them in one web video or web production.  But what's better is they offered the tracks in their original quality, either CD or DVD quality, uncompressed!  This particular song was 48kHz DVD quality.

Sadly, Friendly Music shut down almost as quickly as it started, but I managed to purchase and save the tracks before that happened.  What's uploaded here is now the highest quality version of this song available anywhere on the Internet, and I technically have the license to use it in "one web production" - this one.

Warren zevon - Werewolves of London (Halloween Remix)

My mother found this on an audio cassette tape, and neither of us were sure what it was.  It's obviously some sort of political satire but I'm not sure who it's by or what it's called.

So I digitized it using my Panasonic stereo system (it records tapes to 128kbps mp3), if anyone can identify it for me that would be appreciated!

What Is This?

This is an amazing 8-bit arrangement of Dragonforce's hit song Through the Fire and Flames, made popular by Guitar Hero 3.

This is better than any of the versions I have found floating around, and is by a band called 8 Bit Era - that's all I know about it.  This comes straight from the iTunes store.

If you like the song, go buy it and support the group!  I'm merely uploading it here since it's virtually impossible to find in some places due to iTunes being exclusive to certain countries.  Downloads are enabled for those of you cheapskates.

I've had this recording for quite a few years - back when Detroit's Hip-Hop station was on 102.7 FM.  They have since moved to 107.5 or something.

Hollaback Girl (102.7 Remix)

This is my first attempt at remaking my first ever "DRF Edit" in lossless quality.

The song is called In Paradise by Laissez Faire.

I am calling this "v2" for now, as there were some problems with my source (I did rip the song straight from the CD, but either copy protection or deterioration caused it to sound bad) - I'm going to try to fix this problem in the near future and get a better source.  If you listen closely, you can hear what sounds like vinyl record static, which makes no sense since this came from a CD.
