Elixir

A live set recorded at the 9:30 club in Washington, D.C. on April 19. 2013. This was one of 4 dates with Papadosio, which was a leg of the 'My Heart is Love' tour.  Featuring the live rhythms of Mathias Sayour on drums, and played for a nearly sold out crowd, this set showcases a selection of music that appeared on the album as well as some remixes and unreleased exclusives.

Just polished off and upload for you is my set from the Lapa Stage at Envision 2024.
Easing into the dancefloor a super vibey neo Cumbia Terror/Cactus & Cuervo Cuervo collab opens the set. Following is a deep organic house set of uniquely Afro/Latin rhythms threaded with the ecstatic timbre of village voices, seductive brass, percolating percussion and heartfelt melodies. The tempo cascades and falls throughout the mix...and ends with a parking spot in your melodic heart.

Wow big times for us all from what I have seen and felt in the collective! I myself have been experiencing big life changes and as a space holder, these changes impact the way I show up and what comes through when I offer dance. Add a full moon eclipse to the mix and we have a winning recipe for a wild Ecstatic Dance Journey! 

This mix starts super slow, taking time to warm up the body and moves through many genres of music and emotion. It ended up being a double peak dance on the night and in true Blase style, there are few chunky bass tunes towards the end for ya.

Xochiquetzal

Unlike several other figures in the complex of Aztec female earth deities connected with agricultural and sexual fecundity, Xochiquetzal is always depicted as an alluring and youthful woman, richly attired and symbolically associated with vegetation and in particular flowers. 

She was followed by a retinue consisting of birds and butterflies. Worshippers wore animal and flower masks at a festival, held in her honor every eight years. 

Ichpōchtli is an alternative form of Xochiquetzal representative of beauty, sex, crafts, fertility, dance, music, singing, weaving, magic, and love spells. Marigolds are sacred to her.

Driem (Aaron Handford) is a producer of organic electronica, deep house & downtempo bass whose festival credits include Burning Man, Pachena Bay, Valhalla Fest, Burn In The Forest, Otherworld, & SubLunar and releases on the Visionary Shamanics and Lump Records label.
 
He is inspired by the intersection of the traditional musical legacies of Africa, India, Europe and the Middle East with modern sample based electronic music making methods and is an active music producer. He enjoys collaborating with vocalists and instrumentalists to co-create musical journeys. His artistic goal is to forge connections between the spheres of deep house, downtempo global bass music, jazz, and world rhythms.
