The song sets out to be a return to the origins of the genre with analog synthesiser, bass/guitars and vocals all played and recorded live and arranged with as little samples and effects as possible. Basically there are three great version of this song, off course the 1974 original by Al Green, the version by the Talking Heads but this version is probably closer related to that of Annie Lenox and Eurythmics. My aim with this song was to create a cover of a classic song which has a completely new energy by introducing a dramatic element, incorporating synths, some guitars and techno inspired drums, while staying true to the lyrics. This is quite difficult to live up to hence, feedback is very welcome! There is also a great documentary with the same title coming out later this year.

Dr!ve is an interesting proposition. Unearthed by ISM boss Yam Who in London, their original tracks blend boogie, P-funk and synth-pop influences, analogue synths and live instrumentations, and vocals that sit somewhere between Prince and Plantlife. The two original tracks here, "Diamond In The Rough" and "Born Again", are both breezy and attractive, hinting at even greater things to come in future. Wisely, these radio-friendly originals are backed by a couple of solid remixes; a stomping, soulful nu-disco tweak of "Diamond in the Rough" by Yam Who, and a sparkling deep house-goes-nu-disco interpretation of "Born Again" by Autocycle.

Dr!ve (Kai) is a Swiss producer and musician currently living in London. 
His music style lies somewhere between Funk, Soul, Jazz and Disco but 
he started out as a Hiphop artist, and being quite successful at it, 
winning several awards (Best Newcomer, Best Video) with the group 6er Gaucho. 
 
But with the influences of his brother DJ Splinter (Round Table Knights) 
Kai started to show more and more appreciation for funk and disco.

Funking Massive Floorburner! Tight song structures, clever interplays 
between guitar and synth and a chorus that reels you straight back to Studio 54.
