Unsere Nr. 238 kommt heute von einem spannenden, französischen Künstler, den es, wie viele andere, ins globale Zentrum der elektronischen Musik nach Berlin verschlagen hat. Dort machte er sich innerhalb kürzester Zeit mit seinem hypnotischen Downbeat Style einen Namen. Darüber hinaus ist er Mitgründer des aufstrebenden Labels Crepite (https://soundcloud.com/crepitecollective), einer Berlin / Paris Connection, die ohne Witz nur vorzügliche Releases veröffentlichen. 

Die Rede ist von Farn aka Quentin. Einem Musikliebhaber der langsamen Sorte, welcher in seinen Berliner Anfängen rund sieben Jahre her besonders durch uns (Danke an dieser Stelle), Amselcom (https://soundcloud.com/amselcom) und Laut&Luise (https://soundcloud.com/lautundluise) geprägt wurde. Auch die bekannten SOMETHING SLOW (https://soundcloud.com/somethingslow) Events im Beate Uwe (https://soundcloud.com/beateuwe) verzückten und inspirierten ihn in seinem Schaffensdrang. Kein Wunder dass er neben dem DJ’ing dann auch selbst anfing zu produzieren. Ich erinnere mich noch sehr gut an seine beeindruckende Premiere „Levitum“ (https://soundcloud.com/afterhour-sounds/premiere-farn-levitum-original-mix-crepite?in=afterhour-sounds/sets/premiere) bei uns, die mich vollkommen in den Bann zog und immer noch tut. Ich merkte sofort, dieser Kerl hat das gewisse etwas in seinem Sound. Nämlich tiefe, träumerische und gleichzeitig druckvolle Momente. Definitiv ein Qualitätsmerkmal seines Sounds, welcher sich sowohl in den Releases auf Crepite, als auch in seinen Mixen widerspiegelt. 

Kein Wunder, dass mich das für uns aufgenommene Set direkt in den Bann gezogen hat. Der Beat, die Flächen und die leicht düstere Stimmung entführen einen definitiv ohne Umwege aus dem Alltag hin zu einer nebeligen Sommerwiese frühs morgens zum Sonnenaufgang im wunderschönen Grün. Dabei bewegt er sich gekonnt irgendwo zwischen Tanz und Traum, Druck und Leichtigkeit, aber alles mit einer hypnotischen Aura versehen. Für ihn ist Downtempo definitiv keine Chillout Musik mehr, sondern ein Raum des Experimentierens. Nämlich verschiedene Subgenres miteinander zu verbinden und eine große BPM Range an den Tag zu legen. Jeder Hörer und Tänzer soll hierbei nie den Eindruck bekommen, dass er wüsste, was als nächstes folgt. Dies ist ihm sehr wichtig. Was er damit nun konkret meint, könnt ihr in seinem absolut einzigartigen und fesselnden Podcast bei uns hören. Ich sage nur Minute 35…. Ein absoluter Hörgenuss, ohne Übertreibung. Aber hört und entscheidet selber. Für mich definitiv eines dieser Podcasts, welchen ich mir definitiv noch unzählige Male anhören werden. Bestimmt auch in zehn Jahren. Dies bin ich mir sichser. Ganz nebenbei überzeugt die Aufnahme durch eine Playlist der Superlative. Neben einigen, kommenden Releases auf Crepite, haben sich weitere, mir teils unbekannte Dancefloor Weapon’s von anderen Labels und auch einige Stücke aus seinem Klassiker Ordner in den Podcast geschlichen. Ich erahne jetzt schon das ein oder andere „Track ID?“ Kommentar…

Schnallt euch an… Ich kann mich nur wiederholen, aber es erwartet euch eine Reise, die wie gemacht für eine Afterhour ist. Keine Phrase, keine Fake-News, sondern ehrliche Worte eines musikverliebten Spessarters.

Ich danke dir vielmals Quentin für dieses besondere Set. Umwerfend nachttraumtanzbar und erfrischend gut. Chapeu.

Farn presents "Transcendance" Afterhour Sounds Podcast Nr. 238

A dream came true - Even if we where asked to play an easy Downtempo Set, which is a little different from how we like to play now at Gigs, we felt so happy and blessed to be invited by the lovely booking Crew of Dubstation Stage of the legendary and unique Fusion Festival in Lärz, Germany. What an honor to play there - hard to describe the feeling we had, when our phone rang with the invitation, the feeling to be back at this Festival after 4 years but this time as Artists and the feeling we had when we started our Set at this amazing created Dubstation. 

We didn't knew where the journey was leading us but with all the love of these strong Folks that stayed awake to dance and seesaw with us, this is what came out. Long story short, listen yourself. Here is the result of our 3 hour trip at 3am on Fusion Thursday.

📀 Auf ein Wiedersehen mit guten Freunden 📀

✍️ Wahre Freundschaft kennt weder Zeit noch Raum. Sie lebt in den entsprechenden Individuen unabhängig von äußeren Umständen und Bedingungen. Zusätzlich ist räumliche Distanz in unseren digitalen Zeiten nur eine Frage der Mittel und Möglichkeiten. Durch das Internet kann in Echtzeit kommuniziert werden und der andere ist quasi nur ein Fingertippen oder Mausklick entfernt. 
Im Laufe des Erwachsenwerdens durchläuft und unterliegt jeder von uns vielen Veränderungen. Ein Wechsel des Wohnortes, Auslandsaufenthalte oder auch das kommen und gehen von Familienmitgliedern und Freunden sind nur einige Beispiele dafür. Manche dieser neuen Gegebenheiten mögen uns Missfallen. Doch das Festhalten an vergangenen Zuständen bringt niemanden weiter. Die Kunst ist mal wieder das beste draus machen. Menschen welche uns wichtig sind, verlassen (zumeist) nicht so ohne weiteres unser Leben. Es liegt an jedem Einzelnen seine Beziehungen zu hegen und zu pflegen. In 2023 gilt mehr denn je, wo ein Wille da auch ein Weg. Wahrer Freundschaft ist keiner zu lang oder zu weit …

🎵 Der Podcast von stelzenlaeufer verströmt eine durch und durch magische Wirkung. Die ausgewählten Donwsnappy Exemplare entfalten unweigerlich einen tranceartige Gemütszustand. Die Musik ist definitiv heilsam und ganz klar Balsam für die Seele. Beim Hören treten wohltuende Erinnerungen ins Bewusstsein. Vorfreude mischt sich mit Nostalgie. • What are your musical influences? What is your musical background?

I dont "come" from a musical background, in my child hood music wasn't a very present aspect in my life and now it is what I dedicate my moments to. Sound is what interests me, the daily life sound, the sounds that hold invitations to deepen your moments, the sounds that make my inner and outer world move with curiosity, sounds for the deep listener. 

Opening Traktor for the first time in 2019 when in hospital with help from a dear beloved, I was made aware on such a deep level the ability of healing which comes from outworldy expresion through sound. From that point on the rabbit hole of wonder continues.

 

• What makes good "afterhour"?

A good afterhour for me are the moments of deep surrender, filled with Gratitude for the present. Being surrounded by and experiencing it with loving beings in softness, cheekiness and love. Lets pour some tea and listen to some melting ambient together, or lay in the sun listening to the wind in the trees, lets laugh and celebrate eachother. 

 • Do you have any thoughts you would like to share about your set?

I had the impulse to play the same track at the start and at the end, to hold the journey with the message of Love. This for me, is what I wish to convey in all my musical journeys. 

 
• What was your experience of the set you recorded?

Beate Uwe is one of my beloved home bases, so playing here is always a heart expansion. Watching the bodies flowing and moving on all different levels was and is such a joy, I was in awe at the beauty of it all. It is such an honour to play for you and to share this experience together. The last track moment has imprinted on me, an invitation into stillness it was beautiful to witness the embraces of self and others.

...war das ein Spass! So viel Frreude hatten wir Ponys, als wir das erste Mal gemeinsam hinter den Decks in unserem Lieblings-Keller standen. Ein unvergesslicher Moment und ein Flow den wir am liebsten um Stunden verlängert hätten... Wir mögen was in den 2.5 Stunden entstanden ist. Ziemliches Pony-Galopp voraus!

The next episode of our series is mixed by Jonas Hühne from Mainz and it‘s very special to us, since he recorded it while we were traveling together in mexico.

His sound reaches from midtempo & deep techno to slow global beats. Especially in his ecstatic dance sets he is traveling through different kinds of rhythms touching the whole range of emotions with various styles of music. His vision is to create a room of safetiness and trust where people can open themselves, get in touch with their inner feelings and express whatever comes up.

He is not only a great dj, but also co-creator of the „Mach Mal Langsam“-colective that regularly hosts parties in the area around Frankfurt (Main).
