A slowed-down treatment of the classic Beginning from stage 1 of Akumajou Densetsu that seeks to bring out the groove. Those extra sound channels make the JP soundtrack so much nicer than NES Castlevania III, IMO, but the OST is truly a killer either way :)

A SUPREMELY slowed-down funeral march treatment of the Gourmet Race 1, 3 theme from Kirby Super Star. Back in the day, messing around with game soundtrack MIDI files from vgmusic.com entertained me to no end and I found that the character of the ordinarily chirpy 'n cheerful Gourmet Race takes on a surprisingly dark tone when played back at a fraction of its intended BPM. This is the proper SPC file playing at that ridiculously sluggish tempo, with just a little editing done to add a splash of drama.

So I was on a mission to buy some salsa yesterday and decided on the way home that, yeah, what I needed to do next was whip up a version of The Prodigy's Narayan in one big ol' insomniatic go. A mellowed-out, groove-maximizing version of Bayou Billy's simply awesome BGM A (the tune for the beat-'em-up stages). At this tempo, the Doobie Brothers influence is pretty unmistakable. The game's cutscene music is here serving as a warning siren for the incoming grooviness of the track. Listen and enjoy a true gem from Konami's NES sound team! :)
