I took one of my favorite performances at The Crosby, THE GRINCH PART 2 and turned it into a dedication mix to my favorite place to perform. This 2 hour set is full of all the wonderful vibes and memories the Shiver family brought to Downtown Santa Ana. If you were lucky enough to be there for #bodyaches, or any of our parties you know that we poured our heart and soul into the music.

I also want to give a shout out to Knocksteady and DJ ZO. I recently took over ZO's residency temporarily for 2 weeks and was able to practice parts of this set live. The vibe there was equally inspiring and sparked a lot of great ideas on the fly which I of course inserted into this mix. Thank you to Roy Choi, Jessica, Daisy and the entire staff of Pot and the Pot Lobby Bar. I could not have asked for more welcoming party, and I hope to return soon!

Thank You to everyone who came out and supported last months Shiver!!  I know Sam, Kyle and Justin had a great time!  I originally thought it would be fun to do a mashing of two of my studio mixes, "Indiana Summer" and "The Adventures of Ren & Xochina" (Sam's favs) for this particular set.  I've also had Shiver's 4th Year Anniversary party on my mind... So as I was building samples for the party and even when I was playing live;  I pulled a bunch of songs from past performances and mixes as a sort of history of our journey that has made Shiver what it is today.  When I perform with Ableton I never use "Mixed In Key."  Since you can transpose, beatmap and quantize, I still enjoy the work of cutting up and matching songs by ear.  This allows me to tell a story, set a mood in my own style… it allows me to make mistakes that I'd make if I was djing on the fly and it allows me to cheat a lot of rules you have to follow when performing on the big stage. 
Michelle and I assembled a track list of about 1000 songs for this mix.  While putting together a story, I listened for harmony, rhythm, BPM and lyrics.  We are careful to make sure this feels like her show, her eclectic taste, with me congregating the chaos, hence the VS.  We can't thank Knocksteady enough for the love and support, and 12FV for hooking us up with some fly artwork!  Enjoy this journey through our favorite deserts and don't be afraid to dance when the right amount of heat finds you.
