3:30pm, outdoors in a super gorgeous desert with a big view of snow capped mountains. I was under the impression that the following act was going to be a downtempo act, so I planned a set accordingly. Then during my set I found out that it wasn't going to be a chill out set after me, so I picked much of this on the fly.  

Here’s my Moontribe story and quite how much of an impact MT has had on my life, music, other collectives I’m involved with, sound systems, etc. Happy 30 year anniversary to the legendary moontribe family!

From ‘98 to about ‘09 I basically didn’t know anyone who played and made music like me… some styles of melodic/psychedelic/deep/adventurous and experimental music. Some people call it weird but to me it’s not weird. It’s home, adventure, expanding, ever-changing, creative and bliss. Before I found out about Moontribe, I basically planned on being a Northwest weirdo in my adventures with this sound.

I heard of the mystical, highly respected and “secret” Moontribe for years but didn’t ever get a chance to go…then found some MT mixes which became favorites as I related so much. Treavor Moontribe/Treavor Moontribe started releasing some of my music and asked me to come play a MT reunion.

It felt like I found my long lost soul family. MT has been one of my biggest inspirations for music, etc. because of the open minded musical perspective at the gatherings, feedback I get from Moontribers in person and online, playing certain tracks I make that only work at MT, sustainable event production, locations interacting with nature, the high potentials of happiness from community/security/health, sound system capability, I could go on and on… I can’t thank the MT family enough for the massive amount of happiness and inspiration it has spread to so many people!!! 🙏🏻

As I go through my post birthday existential crisis lethargic feels, and packing away my home for the last 5 years, I decided that I'm a pro procrastinator and decided to AD-DJ a little, cause it's been a while since I've mixed music at home, or made a mix in general. Here's a no planning, no fucks given, half distracted, but yet, somehow confident mix. Just a jam with no intention, no thoughts, playing a combination of tracks that I've enjoyed playing out recently. 

Does it make sense all the time? Not really, but neither does life. If you're going through the feels or having a hard time right now, this is for you. Whatever we're going through collectively, I see you, I feel you, let's get through this together. Lots of heavy shit happening on all aspects in the world right now, and I feel it all in my soul. Whatever you are going through, know you are not alone.

October 2018, Moontribe Full Moon Gathering. Since I started playing at Moontribe in 2006, I haven't yet missed a set I committed to playing. For this gathering, I happened to be completely ill with a chest/head cold...apart from my set, I spent the majority of my time out in the desert huddled in my tent with a box of tissue and a kit full of cold meds. 

Standing up for close to 2 hours straight for my set, I just about fainted after I played my last track. But I made it! In honor of that moment, I am calling this one "Echinacea". Some gentle bass music, psychill, and other eclectic tunes that are pleasing to my ear and my brain.

While fairly newer to the scene as a DJ, Dan Drogynous (they/them) is no stranger to the dance floor. With passion and roots connected to many styles of underground electronic music, Dan Drogynous seeks to create the dance floor experience that they love to indulge in. Emerging over the past couple years of the abyss, they have been keeping dancer floor dwellers on their toes, bringing a non-binary variety of flavours into their sets and keeping the journey fluid. They enjoy spinning the mood and story that they are currently experiencing.

Making their DJ debut on an Architextures live stream during the first year of the Pandemic, they have since been seen gracing the decks for Wiggle Room events and Camp Wiggly, Bloom, Impulse, Bassline, Generating Beatz, Friend Zone, Lossless, Phantom, Skeledance as well as renegade beach parties and house jams. Dan Drogynous loves experimenting with their sounds to create an interesting experience that ranges from house to techno to indie dance, four on the floor to breaks, deep and sexy to bouncy and groovy. They are also especially fond of some of the retro synth sounds of the 80’s and acid basslines of the 303’s.
