A regular contributor to the finest dance music imprints of the underground scene, Simos Tagias makes a welcome debut on Meanwhile with his 'Euphoria' EP.

Bursting onto the scene in late 2012 and early 2013 with a clutch of releases on Modu and Lynx Records, Simos Tagias has overseen a career path with a steady upwards trajectory that has since seen some 400 production credits to his name. Indeed, Clubsonica Records, Mango Alley and Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat Music have all played regular host to the Greek artist’s work, not to mention successful releases on Cid Inc.’s Replug and Aly & Fila’s hugely successful FSOE.

Now opening his account on GMJ & Matter’s ever-growing Meanwhile, 'Euphoria' immediately impresses as a collage of elements fly across the sonic spectrum while a clicking ambient effect and grooved percussion provide dance floor character. Building in effervescent fashion, reversed synth motifs vie with delicately delayed phrases as a plethora of spot effects swim enticingly around the listener’s head. Winding up after a dizzying breakdown, the third movement carefully combines all the elements introduced in the earlier stages through a mind-melting melange of frequencies that pitches and falls in an innovative wall of sound Phil Spector would be proud of.

'Emotion' is a high-octane offering powering forward with chest-thumping kick and immaculately syncopated percussive groove. White noise infused synth motifs soon fill the sonic spectrum as a rapid-fire 16th note bassline carries the melodic elements with ease. Full of emotion and beautifully flowing synth lines, the track reaches its musical zenith at the breakdown before hitting its stride in the second half where all elements converge in lay lines of raw power and emotion.

Dutch trio Envotion are guys that are really close to my heart. Already in the game for over a decade they keep on improving and reinventing their sound. Adrift is their latest addition and what a beautiful strong progressive tune this is. Building smoothly to create a dreamy atmosphere towards the contagious piano chords and trancy synths, this record breathes good vibes and will keep dancers off their feet for nights to come. Remix duties are taken care of by Sebastian Sellares who after various releases on meanwhile and Anjunadeep now brings his special melodic deep house touch to the original, we couldn't have hoped for a better remix.

Eve of Eternity: A Celestial Love Story

In a distant realm where time flowed like a river of stardust, there existed a forgotten garden. Its petals shimmered with hues unknown to mortal eyes, and its fragrance whispered secrets of forgotten memories. Here, on the eve of eternity, two souls converged.

Lysandra, a celestial wanderer, had traversed galaxies seeking solace. Her translucent wings bore the weight of countless lifetimes, and her eyes held the reflection of distant constellations. She longed for a melody that could mend the fractures in her star-kissed heart.

Aelius, a dream weaver, resided within the garden’s heart. His silver hair trailed behind him like comet trails, and his fingers plucked chords from the cosmic winds. His music wove tapestries of emotion, each note a bridge between realms.

One twilight, as the moon hummed its lullaby, Lysandra stumbled upon the garden. The petals quivered, recognizing her as the lost daughter of the cosmos. Aelius emerged from the shadows, his eyes mirroring the constellations she carried within.

“Eve of Eternity,” he whispered, and the garden blossomed. Their gazes entwined, and Lysandra felt the pull of destiny. Aelius strummed his celestial lyre, and the air shimmered with luminescent harmonies. The stars leaned closer, eager to witness their union.

Together, they danced—a celestial waltz across the petals. Lysandra’s wings unfurled, and Aelius guided her through nebulous arcs. Their love transcended time, echoing through wormholes and supernovae. Each note they composed etched their story into the fabric of existence.

But as dawn approached, Lysandra’s wings grew heavy. She feared that love, too, would fade like dying stars. Aelius held her close, his melody weaving a cocoon of warmth.

“Eve of Eternity,” he murmured, “we are but stardust, destined to scatter. Yet our love—our music—shall echo through infinity.”

And so, they kissed beneath the cosmic canopy, their lips tasting of comet trails and forgotten wishes. As the sun peeked over the horizon, Lysandra’s wings dissolved into stardust. Aelius cradled her, and together, they merged—a celestial symphony fading into eternity.

The garden wept petals, and the melody lingered—a haunting refrain for those who dared to dream beyond time’s grasp.

Argentinian supremo Ezequiel Arias, famed for his intricate and refined productions is first up. His rework creates tension from the word go, as the atmospheric and driving vibe keeps you moving with warm tinkling sounds, a smooth edge and some nicely effected sounding pieces that keeps building to culminate into a true prime time club monster. We basically have the formula for a bit of a monumental outing. The sparseness is the key here, as this restrained gem works its magic while it plays away, creating a stunning glow, creating an air of sophistication. "Essential stuff!"

The rapidly thriving onedotsixtwo label launches its 2020 campaign with yet another essential release, this time from the multitasking main man himself, Tripswitch, who has masterminded an incredible refreshing of his classic ‘Box Fresh’ track, having enlisted the studio skills of Emi Galván, Forerunners and Nicolas Rada, alongside him on remix duty.

“‘Box Fresh’ was a really significant track for me when it first came out on the ‘Propulsion EP’ in 2014. It was one of the first progressive tracks I wrote where I felt I’d successfully struck the right formula between my own production style, which was more rooted in epic, euphoric chillout, and an up-to-date progressive house sound.” - Tripswitch

The original track’s significance (represented by the 2020 Remaster in this new package) grew exponentially when it became one of the first Tripswitch tracks (after his remix of Seamless ‘Castle In the Sky’ on Section Records) that Nick Warren and Hernan Cattaneo really hammered in their sets and was thus pivotal in establishing Tripswitch on the progressive path, ultimately leading to the birth of onedotsixtwo.

With an ethos to seek out and feature the finest world-class talent within the underground progressive house scene, Tripswitch has teamed up with rising Argentinian superstar Nicolas Rada (who is making a huge impression on the scene right now) to open proceedings. This creative dream team’s ability to tease out the essential original mind-blowing beauty of ‘Box Fresh’ with their deeply delicious 2020 ReFresh is quite astonishing. By composing a magnificently subtle, tantalizing, soaring, new melodic masterpiece, they set the stage perfectly for this truly outstanding remix package.

Another Buenos Aires resident, the exceptionally multi-talented Emi Galván, brings his own unique vision to ‘Box Fresh’. Emi has earned a reputation as a kind of crown prince of uplifting electronic music and here he injects his infectious blend of bounce and funk to proceedings to launch the track to a higher level of energetic abandonment, juxtaposing irresistible melodic hooks with euphoric percussive flourishes to create an absolutely monstrous dancefloor experience. Emi’s remix has already been cited by Nick Warren as one of the biggest tracks of his DJ sets.

Arizona USA’s Brenden LaBonte (aka Forerunners) makes a welcome return to onedotsixtwo with his outstanding remix. A sophisticated interwoven blend of skippy percussion, meandering bassline groove and lush layers of hypnotic melody, create a marvellous drifting sea of tranquil beauty. 'Presenting their debut collaborations, Dmitry Molosh and Nopi land on Cid Inc’s Replug Records with ‘Consciousness Switch’.  Label artist and progressive music star Dmitry Molosh has found a comfortable home on the Finnish imprint. After rounding out 2019 with the chart topping ‘Cascade’, the Belarus based artist returned to Replug this year alongside fellow countryman Michael A for their ‘Integral’ EP. Dmitry’s 2020 has also been highlighted by his latest project for Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat Music entitled ‘Elison’. Having first appeared in March of 2019, Nopi has enjoyed a meteoric rise through the organic house underground. In just eighteen months the Ukrainian artist has found a home on Akbal Music, Kindisch, Sound Avenue and When We Dip XYZ. His fresh approach to deep and dreamy melodies has propelled him to one of the genre’s top up and coming artists. Now making a welcome debut on Replug, he teams up with label veteran Dmitry Molosh for a two-track showcase entitled ‘Consciousness Switch’. 

Getting underway with the title selection, Dmitry and Nopi combine their extensive forces for a cosmic slice of progressive house. From its full, muscular groove comes driving percussion, robust rhythms and ethereal effects. Evolving with power and class, placid atmospheres provide a colourful backdrop for a landscape of striking electronics. A majestic break sits at the heart of the journey, expertly crafted and spanning nearly two minutes in length, it’s effervescent rumble builds, as rising effects marry heartfelt harmonics for a commanding drop and enormous finale. 

Continuing the progressive minded ethos of the EP is the equally brilliant ‘Ungovernable’. Warm and mystical from the outset, the piece pulsates with cross cultural vocals blanketing rippling bass tones and free form effects. Effervescent stabs add character and grit as the vocal narrative evolves leading into the main break. Twisted bass modulation adds a wave of tension across the centrepiece, flowing through an unpredictable storyboard, before getting washed away in a rush of sonic decay and spirited vocals. 'Two Argentinian duos, Analogs Jungs and Oliver & Tom, pair up to produce one catchy single, 'Landscape'. The track's name speaks for itself - a vast a contemplative landscape of infinite groove.

Analog Jungs is a musical project from Córdoba, Argentina founded by Claudio Cornejo and Gustavo Ruarte. They have a style that blends Progressive, Tech and Deep House sounds with great versatility and ideal rhythms for the dance floor.

'Music transcends us all,' that's what Oliver & Tom is all about. Composed by Andrés Martynowicz and Mauricio Infiesta, the duo's symbiosis originated in their childhood. Growing up together, they shared diverse musical experiences in rock and pop bands, where Andrés excelled in the electric guitar and Mauricio in the acoustic drums. A few years later, both continued their studies now choosing the piano and synthesizer as their main instruments of production and giving rise to the creation of the electronic music group 'Oliver & Tom.'

Spanish producer Agatha Pher contributes to the calm and memorable vibe, defining the single's clear and beautiful horizons. She always creates beautiful music, and this remix is no exception.

To close out the EP, Brazilian producer Rigooni, known for his beautiful track 'Dreamed Numbers' signed on Nick warren's Balance compilation, is on remix duty and create a bouncy/proggy sound.
