Premiere: BLR - Lipstick Ft. Robbie Rise

Replaced my roof this week so a doff of my cap to the old one for keeping me dry all these years.
A quick track  built around DX7 bass and Korg MS-20 sequence.
Kept the drums real simple - Off, on a bit, all on. Really couldn't be arsed fucking around with them. 
Track overall reminicent of Paris Angels if you remeber them.
Vocals remind me of some from New Fast Automatic Daffodils but could be wrong, they are awfully familiar though.
As with the drums couldn't be arsed with mixing and mastering so pretty much left it up to iZotope with just a little tinkering. Tried to mix as I went along anyway.
As always please tell me what you like or hate about it. I always take advice on board.

This is a little-known 1996 re-issue version of A Guy Called Gerald's classic, 'Voodoo Ray', as with many releases of the era, they have dared to include a vocalist, Lisa May. Whilst the original re-issues leave a bit to be desired, as well as mastering level in today's terms, even lesser known remix by 'Man'Chiavellian' pretty much rips the shreds on any dance floor to this day, with a nicely fading breakbeat funk element to boot. Classic 90s UK House.

So my good friends who run the Hacienda Friends Facebook Group asked me to get involved in a live stream a little while ago while we were all in self isolation lockdown. 
I did my usual days and days of preparation, including contacting the other DJs playing before me to check what vibe they were planning on playing, in order to achieve a good flow for the day, and not repeat any tracks that other DJs had played (as many of them would be playing big Hacienda classics). 
I had selected a varied selection of tunes - Hacienda classics that I used to play at the club, some recent bombs that I have played out at some of my recent gigs, some exclusive mashups, and various other stuff. As per usual, I did not have a clue what I was going to play, preferring to select tunes ‘on the hoof’.
As it turned out on the day (as a result of the all-pervasive technical problems with streaming live) the DJ running order was changed around at the last minute…leaving me with no idea of what was going to be played before me.

So I decided to play a mix of old and new, just feeling a vibe…starting off quite spiritual with Massive Attack, moving through Acid House, Disco House, a bit of Italo and moving through some more intense vibes towards the end…a bit of a mish mash!

At the very beginning (and throughout) the set I had some strange media player problems, which meant I could not properly cue and drop tunes in, and do my usual bit of turntable trickery.
Luckily the problem did not disrupt my set too much, but there were some wierd glitches which I had no control over. Also I had a strange distorted mono feed to my speakers in the studio throughout which was a bit offputting.
So I was not going to upload this mix as it was not good enough for me…until I realised that I had recorded another feed which was in stereo with no distortion. Hurrah!

Therefore I decided to do some minor editing to get rid of the major equipment glitches in the sound recording, in order to improve the flow of the recording….and that is what I have upoaded here.
