A track created for the Metapop / Modeselektor production challenge. There's a few samples from Modeselektor in there, a couple of them vocal samples.

Modeselektor – Who Else – Dromi

This track is created using entirely samples in a Session Victim type of approach. The title comes through reading about concepts of time, determinism and eternalism, which I came across after watching the show True Detective. It seemed appropriate in a track that skews and chops up lots of samples or 'references'.

Frames Of Reference

I watched the Jonah Hill directed film, Mid-90’s the other day and loved it. It was a big nostalgia hit for all the great 90’s hip-hop on the soundtrack. So here’s my contribution! A lo-fi hip hop beat nodding to people like Dilla, Tribe and The Pharcyde. I played live electric bass on this. Pads for the drums and guitar samples treated with granular delay. I programmed the strings using ‘Session Strings’ from NI.

Grains Of Sand (2nd place – Metapop – Produce this competition #41)

This track was made for a competition on Metapop. Some of the samples were supplied by Ric and Thadeus. I liked several of the samples, so I decided to use three of them: Dover, Supergirl and California. With these I created an A-B-A-B-C structure. Pads for drums, played electric bass on it and used some vocal samples from Splice, that I chopped and treated. I kept the loops fairly pure, some EQ-ing and I subtly chopped them up and reversed them in places.

Locked In (Dromi)

This was created for a competition on Metapop.com with samples created by The Stereotypes. There were some great samples to choose from. I used the Thomas Boykin's samples as the basis. I laid down the bass over a pad played beat. I had some fun with the percussion samples. Enjoyed working on this, I was pretty happy with the vibe I created. Hope you like it!
