What we can appreciate in this mix by the artist is a meticulous selection and curadury. With a wide spectrum of influences that takes from genres such as Avant Garde, Drone, Industrial Techno, IDM and Classical. It is nothing more than an attempt at seduction and at the same time a sound reflection for the listener. We are in the presence of an exercise of artistic freedom that breaks free from ties and taboos to channel its discourse.

Drone Operatør 11th Edition of AA+ DØ RADIØ hits heavy this time. The mix is laden with drums, guitars and noise. Some 70'ies Japanese Free Jazz, some distorted blast beats, some nerve wrecking electronics all spiced up with some musical pearls. Our special guest the American experimental extreme metal ensemble and contemporary composition collective EHNAHRE presents one song from their oeuvre plus songs picked by each band member that they felt was formative in developing their musical sensibilities.

Ehnahre has been pioneering an effort to rethink and redefine what metal, extreme and new music can be, since their debut release in 2008- to equal parts acclaim and condemnation for their sins against the tradition. Originally conceived as a one-off recording project, the artistic success of the first session inspired the group to forge ahead, and it has evolved over time from a weirdo death metal outfit into an extreme new music ensemble that employs an unlimited variety of techniques, instrumentation and atmospheres. While the ensemble retains a vestigial tail of their formative elements, they are always in search of innovative and interesting new approaches, concepts and projects to give life to.

This is Drone Operatør's last :.( radio show on Resonance Extra. We had some fun time the last 12 months and hope you had too. For this last show, we asked composer, improviser and saxophonist Tom Weeks to create a special saxophone solo session, which he did to our delight. And hell it's good!!!

The rest of the show we will play our brand new album SIM CARD HØLDER, which was created during the lockdown in collaboration with Ian Bruner and Gajek extending it with some extra material. We hope to see you again on other platforms. Yours, Drone Operatør.

Tom Weeks is a composer, improviser, and saxophonist from Oakland, CA. He has received a Bachelor's degree in Jazz Composition from Berklee College of Music, Boston, MA, and a Master's degree in Composition from Mills College, Oakland, CA. He has studied with Roscoe Mitchell, Fred Frith, Zeena Parkins, Pauline Oliveros, Chris Brown, W.A. Mathieu, Steve Adams, Richard Evans, and Phil Wilson, among others.

His music is influenced by various African-American musical traditions, the historical avant-garde, and the heavy metal and hardcore traditions; utilizing improvisation, extended techniques, and traditional and experimental notational practices. He has worked with musicians such as Alvin Curran, Makoto Kawabata, Ricardo Descalzo, The MolOt Ensemble, Jack Wright, Arrington De Dionyso, Hans Koch, Walter Thompson, Vinny Golia, William Winant, G. Calvin Weston, members of the ROVA saxophone quartet, and Henry Kaiser, among many others.

In addition to leading the bands Ero Guro and BEER, as well as performing with the ensemble TONED, his frequent collaborators include Camille Emaille, Nathan Corder, gabby fluke-mogul, and Kevin Murray.

Evil Medvěd is a Prague-based, Glasgow-born live act (self-identifying as "they/them") who began producing and playing live in 2018. Since then, they have gone on to play live alongside Sapphire Slows, MYHSA and grime producer, A.G. Working with modular, sampling, live re-sampling and have been building messy, turbulent energy into their live sets. In Scotland, they were part of the queer activist DJ duo VAJ.Power, who ran clubnights ‘FUSE’ which aimed to make bass music & 140 genres more accessible for all. 

Fictionkin is a project's debut EP that reflects morphing and proteus sound of Evil Medvěd's live sets. With constant emphasis on airy space and delicate ecosystem of individual tracks it evolves from UK bass music roots to progressive hybrid-club sound-tests. The unique and promising EP is accompanied by the tough selection of remixes by producers from Evil M's home scene (Glasgow's KLEFT and Manuka) and from contemporary Prague club crews (Hyaen and Ancestral Vision).
